Closure at S. Uhle St. this afternoon. No detour provided. Had to walk through the churned up dirt across the narrow strip left between where the trucks were parked and the road. It looks like they were building a mini-ramp so they could have another pipe or something cross the trail. Should be good for some BMX style stunts.

    Dream scenario

Here’s a bigger dream. They call off the major work on the Memorial Bridge, ban cars and turn it into a pedestrian/cyclist bridge the way Nashville did with the Shelby Street Bridge. :D

Oh, wait. I just realized that the two-waying of Fort Myer, and the moving of GWMP access from Lynn to Fort Myer would CLONE THE INTERSECTION OF DOOM.

I don’t think we want two intersections of doom…

I’m wondering why the IOD has a low stress, “Most Comfortable” rating on their chart.

I enter/exit my building on N. Kent – so I’m happy to see the addition of bike lanes on Wilson & 19th (almost?) all the way to Kent. Oh, wait – 2030. I’ll be retired by then.

Boardwalk was open this morning! I didn’t even spot any new boards, although my wife claimed she saw some.

I noticed a couple of new boards – but seemingly a smaller area than the damage shown in photos posted online. I suspect NPS has a storage tank filled with spare boards marinating in slime that they draw on for Trollheim repairs :)

Planning ahead here: Can I catch a ride with someone to this? For me, my bike, and whatever costume we decide on!! :)

I’ll have to give you a TBD on that. I will be playing at B Chord Brewing in Bluemont that evening. I haven’t yet decided whether I’m just going to stay out west or come home in between.

Is this really a surprise? Like everyone else who rides across Trollheim, they slipped and fell. 😳

I was thinking that this really should be reported on the Report your MVT wooden-bridge accident here. Date, location, circumstances thread :)

The GPS L1 and L2 frequencies are 1575 and 1227 MHz, respectively. Unless the power supply has a really strong upper harmonic or the GPS receiver has an IF in the 100-500 KHz range, I’m not convinced the power supply is interfering w/ GPS reception.

I thought it was a Yoshi costume. Whoever it is, I have it.

As I was telling the folks on the alphabet soup ride on Saturday… Maybe it is time to retire Freezing Saddles and just play Calvin Ball all winter. ;)

If we don’t have points then we’ll miss out on one of the central activities of Freezing Saddles – arguing over the points scheme (which apparently we’ve already started doing).

Seriously, even though I’m a middle of the pack rider who is never going to win anything pointswise, points get me out there riding on days when I otherwise would wimp out. Ultra-stupid rides motivated by points are among my favorite FS memories.

What I always wonder about are the “Bicycles May Use Full Lane” signs. Is the interpretation that absent such a sign, bicycles may not use the full lane? If bicycles may always use the full lane, what is the need for such signs?

We’re not moving our business to King Street. You Alexandria ganevim already stole NSF and PTO from us. Genuk!

In terms of cyclists taking the lane in areas where there’s a bike lane, I also fear that non-cyclists will see that and think, “gosh, we ruined a perfectly good travel lane to make room for a bike lane and these crazy cyclists don’t even use it,” which could increase opposition to further bike infrastructure.

OAT, I tried part of SteveO’s suggested route through Rosslyn today. The use of the 17th St. bridge to cross over Ft. Myer Drive is clever, but I did have a car on my tail up 17th and down the ramp as I negotiated the complicated merge onto N. Lynn. I felt it was trading one set of traffic problems for another, but it’s always nice to have alternatives.
