ParticipantThere are folks on these boards who commute along the trails in the pitch black dark of night. Knowing that I remove anything I see that might hurt them. This way they can devote their full time and attention to dodging Ninja Joggers and Bambi. It hardly seems fair to raise their degree of difficulty without warning. Ice is bad enough.

ParticipantI will send another letter. Thank you for the update.

ParticipantFar from stupid, strategically very smart. An awareness campaign, an educational tool, a small effort in the right direction. Legislation is incremental, attitude shifts are as well. Look beyond the face of the bill.

ParticipantSome of those joggers can be as fast as deer, and just as messy to collide with but I wouldn’t worry until the double strollers pass you. Cheers!

ParticipantGasp! Hope the airbags did not deploy, I’ve heard that hurts. Glad you are ok.

ParticipantIt was a balmy 34 coming home around 10:30 tonight so if the temps rise and the rain falls the trail should start to look like a trail again. But please, everyone stay safe, I really hate those ghost bikes. Never want to see one associated with the folks here. Route 7 is notorious. Not wild about writing victim impact letters, they are tough to get “just right.” And white is just not a good color for a bike. Dirt’s particular shade of pink is growing on me.

ParticipantWow, I have serious LED envy. I love the look, it is interesting and practical. Let me preface this statement to be sure you all know I am not being sarcastic, I really love the glow. It has a sort of super-hero meets Power Ranger attitude going on. But in a very cool way. Wonder if they come in pink?

ParticipantAs per plowing the W&O: Could WABA help us out in this regard? I will contact my Board Supervisor and advocate for plowing the W&O but a large organization has a larger profile and would have more clout.
The trails are not good, but it was a balmy 75 at the Mason gym on my spinning bike. Once I used my shirt to cover up the annoying Robo-Bike Dude on the video screen built into the bike, it was semi-tolerable. I had to cover him once the background on his green screen developed a disco ball meets Star Wars theme. My laughter was drawing stares. I guess a woman manically riding a bike laughing to herself is scary. At least I had my own music.

ParticipantThe 20-somethings can have their thoughts and beliefs, I covet their hearts and lungs. Oh, and their collagen too.

ParticipantYikes. I consider Route 7 after 3:00 pm an ulcer-inducing drive in a car. Riding it would scare me out of any leftover 20-something agnostic beliefs. Glad you are safe.

ParticipantI am sorry, I did not see this until now. My definition of what can be ridden is strictly from a pampered indoor pet’s perspective. You battle-hardened commuters brave difficult conditions with ease. I looked at the W&O yesterday around Gallows Road and it seems to be a soggy, snowy, ugly mess. (Meow) However, route 7 is more of a mess on a Friday.

ParticipantI am glad everyone seems ok. You made it home. One of my friends in a car gave up and she pulled off the road with her sister and child but found a hotel room.

ParticipantAll I could think was, wow that is some kinda fast. Very cool.
But seriously, enforce the 25 mph limit on the minivans, please.
And, at least I know the cyclist wasn’t texting at the same time.acc
ParticipantThat was perfectly acceptable and prevented me from saying I usually found myself thrashing around in the gutter, screaming “Oh God,” repeatedly as if it were a magic incantation that would cause the clips to immediately release. So much for trying to teach Spartacus a “safe” word. BTW your self edit made the entire joke all the funnier. Thank you.
On the serious side, I had no idea how hard it was to learn to clip in and out. But eventually it just became second nature.

The trick is to use the rollers very close to a wall that you can lean against/touch for stability.
Brilliant, thank you. I would not have figured that out. Well, not quickly.
