Durong the Civil War, The Defenses of Washington included 68 forts like Fort Ethan Allen (now in North Arlington) where this bastioned earthwork lined with cannons helped REPEL attacks on Washington by the Confererate losers.
Looks like @CaseyKane50 and I think alike! Great to live in a place with so much great history nearby!!!

My bike was on the VERGE of falling off the edge of the narrow strip while I photographed a building named VERGE where, ironically, there was no VERGE (grassy strip on the edge of the sidewalk).

This segregation wall CLEFT two neighborhoods in North Arlington.
It was built in the 1930s to keep the black people of the neighborhood of Halls Hill out of the neighborhood of Woodlawn Village.

01/30/24 EXPELI followed the $h!t downhill after work and found the Arlington sewage treatment plant. This shows where the “clean” water is EXPELled by the expeller into Four Mile Run.
