ParticipantMy new commuting shoes are almost certainly the fanciest shoes I’ll ever own. (I would never actually pay $400 for shoes; these are [lightly] used and I got them for $92 on eBay.)

Is yours the Deda bar tape that Wiggle calls “jaguar” green? Have you considered cloth tape, see the Green Grips dark green.
Yes, Deda Jaguar green. Google did not find Green Grips for me. I like their dark green better.

Yes!
Actually I picked up another pair by accident (won them for 99¢) so now I am wearing the new white ones, which won’t match anything

I have some white water bottles lying around, I am sure.

Yeah, what HM said; S-Works.
They are very nice. Even the far-more-used [white] ones that I will ride with on the regular feel great; the dual-boa is quite luxurious.
Sad that the Giro HV MTB shoes couldn’t be coerced into working, but they went to a good home and I ended up with two pairs of S-Works for the same price, which is obviously where I should have started. I keep learning the same lesson with saddles and shoes: once you finally find something that works, don’t try something else.
Now off to order that 2-week saddle trial to see if Seller SMP make something that will work better than my Phenom on the commuter …

ok, where did you “accidentally” win a pair of S-Works shoes for under a dollar?

eBay — no one else bid. The right shoe is missing the heel pad (non-slip bottom piece), but since I am not walking much I really don’t notice. I assume no one wanted shoes that were questionably worn. They work great, though.

turn your $.99 shoes into some $10.99 shoes (plus shipping):

Thanks for the link! — I think these are older than that, though. But it’s really not a big deal. I was thinking I could put a piece of skateboard tape if I just want it to be a little less slippery, though with plenty of tread on front, not something I deem overly urgent. Or contact the big S and see if they might stock some for the previous iteration of S-Works.

Those fit MY13 & MY14, and I believe those were the first swerks model that featured replaceable heel pads. The newer MY15 & MY16 heel pads are a single piece.

Interesting. Mine look like this
Seems different shape — probably because these are MTB shoes come to think of it!
