Right, in compliance with Rule 8.1…and really, 8.4 as well.
Ha, I read “compliant” as “complaint” because I’m paranoid.

ParticipantChinese carbon frame is on it’s way! Also in transit, Stan’s Grail rims. To be purchased, 105 groupset (let me know if you want rim brakes), avid BB7 or TRP HyRd brakes (opinions welcome). Hubs, likely BHS, and spokes/nipples/washers. A seat, bar tape and tires.

Let’s be honest, you don’t really need the bars or bar tape.

? Maybe not the tape, but I think the bars fall into the need category. (At least as much as any 3rd bike component can).

I’ve seen you ride, and I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen you use the bars at all!

Oh I see what you’re getting at.(cause you spelled it out for me).
Despite forum sightings to the contrary I do actually use the handle bars 95+% of the time. And this is a CX bike, so I’ll hopefully be making good use of them this fall.

I’ll take your word for it on the bar use.
Are you going to race CX this fall?

That paint turned out great. That is going to be one lightweight ‘cross bike.
Also consider TPR Spyre (that’s what I use). Similar cost (or cheaper?) to Avid [road] BB7 and the dual-caliper design makes pad-wear adjustment easier. I hear great things about the Hy/Rd too, though: I think you get better stopping power and automatic pad wear adjustment at the cost of some $$ and some grams. I’m plenty happy with the Spyre brakes (and the BB7s before them were fine too).
Or if you want more carbon, get the Spyre SLC where you can save 9 grams (per caliper) thanks to a carbon lever arm. The 9 grams will only cost you an additional $70 (per caliper).

Beautiful bike. The fenders and silver trim-pieces definitely look great together. I was gonna say “wrong side of the bike!” but since I love disc brakes so much, I think one side is just as good as the other!
I’m super happy to see @dkel didn’t get his pliers near those fender stays!

This is so purdy. I’d have a fleet of Salsas, if I had my way.
Will you be bringing it to pancake club so we can drool over it?

Thank Salsa for that: thoughtful placement of the brake caliper mounts eliminates the need for creative fender stay solutions.
Oh, I’m pretty sure that a bunch of people told you to consider that when you were contemplating the Surly frame, right !?
But you couldn’t resist the purple sparkle.
