Is this you leaking info about who you’re going to be racing for this season?
No, no; I am just gonna get one of their non-race (yellow) kits. Free advertising — plus it’s a nice, relatively hi-viz kit for the early morning rides.
I don’t have time to race (or to train) with a real team. We have a just-for-fun team that is what used to be our company team (since most of us now work for different companies). So I’ll be racing with that kit. No more race fee reimbursements and $300 annual equipment allowance for me. Man, we had a pretty sweet deal

Castelli kit runs small. That’s my excuse.
But the padding is puh-fect.
I think they’re just euro-fit, right? Or do they run small even for euro sizing? According to their website, I need a large. That sounds consistent with other euro-sized jerseys/bibs I have (and consistent with others I know wearing Castelli gear).

Of course you do. Just as it looks like I will have to buy something in addition to my new hopefully not too big cap to take advantage of free shipping on orders over $50. It would make no sense whatsoever to PAY for shipping, amirite?
I don’t want to dissuade you from the Castelli cap; but my experience is that they’re not that small … I have a fluo yellow Castelli Performance cycling cap and it fits my 59cm head fine.
The smallest caps I have encountered are the Pace caps; specifically I have a Pace Coolmax cap (http://www.pacesportswear.com/coolmaxcyclingcaps.aspx) and it is tiny. My 53-cm-headed 4yr old wears it comfortably.

Okaaayy… so perhaps I am off instead to buy a pace cap for my mumblemumble52.5cmmumblemumble head.

Giordana fits about the same based on the one jersey and two pairs of their bibs I have.
Interestingly, I have an XL Castelli track jacket that I bought based on their measurement guide. The guide is actually accurate for bibs and jerseys, although their size ranges are small compared to other brands (so they call a 43 chest an XXL, whereas a 43 chest is an XL in most other brands), but the jacket was waaaaay too big…It’s cotton though, so I was able to shrink it, and now it fits pretty well.

I have a Headsweats OSFA cap that feels like it’s going to squeeze my brains out of my ears, so check them out as well….

ParticipantI have some Castelli bibs in a small that are ok – my issue is always jerseys. Small would be ok except the sleeves and torso are too short, but medium is too baggy. Guess I need custom? /elite
I generally have trouble with caps being too small. I’m about 56-60cm I think and most “one size fits all” caps end up a bit too tight.

Winter is over so trying out some new lighter-duty tires.
Well, a couple hundred miles later (at most) and the rear tire exploded riding over a rock on the W&OD. A triangular gash of ~5-7mm dimensions. I used a gel as a tire boot.
And then a few hundred yards later a clothespin spring (so it appeared) found its way into the same tire. I guess it is good I carry a patch kit in addition. And good I had picked up my son early.
WTF!? It was probably just really bad luck, but I threw that tire in the trash and replaced both of them with my GP4000S tires from last year. I kept the front Strada, of course, to use once I flat on my Contis and prove that it was just a string of bad luck.

Booo, that sucks. I haven’t had any issues with mine yet – about 800 miles as a rear FG tire.

Yeah, I was just thinking to myself on the way home “these tires might be good in Poolesville road race [on account of the gravel]”. Well, no confidence with their ability to ride on gravel.
It is ok; the 25mm GP4000S is definitely a faster rolling tire, seems about the same width. And thanks to my switch from Velo plugs to Pacenti blue tape, was able to mount without special tools.
If anyone wants a 200-mile 120tpi Strada LGG for $20 lemme know. Otherwise I will keep it as a spare (and probably give it away in a couple years when I never use it)

Have you ever tried to mount it under a rim brake? I’ve wanted to try these for Rough Roubaix, etc, and based on the reviews I’m willing to chance that yours was a bad apple, but I don’t know that they’ll fit under my brakes.

Rim brake!? People still use those??
J/k, but no haven’t tried. They did not seem super wide, though, probably were measuring around 28mm on my 19mm-internal-width (i.e. wide!) rims.
I am sure you are right and it was just defective tire. I have had defective Contis too.

On sale for $30 if you don’t get to buy Hozn’s.
I was thinking of running these for the JB Gran Fondo, but now having second thoughts.

Oh, I will lower my price to $15 in that case!

Participant@Hozn, have you ever run Panaracers? I am currently running these in 32mms and am satisfied, although have had a run of flats (that could be more bad luck and riding inability, thought). If you have would appreciate your thoughts.
Like the idea of shifting to a lighter tire, possibly in a smaller size for the spring/summer commute…
