Socks????
One of the things I like about the Keens sandals is that they fit fine with or without socks. This afternoon’s rain ride was without socks.

Out of curiosity, how fast do the sandals dry out after a torrential downpour? I have been contemplating getting a pair of these, but want to make sure that they dry out quickly without assistance (i.e. throwing them in the dryer).

Mine were soaked yesterday (put them on while I was wet from the pool, then rode home in the rain). They were barely damp this morning, and I hadn’t done a thing to help them dry.

Mine were pretty damp when I got home, and I put them in front of a fan on the floor. They were totally dry by the time an hour had passed. The materials are billed as waterproof, but obviously the sandal lets water in (and back out). If you aren’t wearing socks with them, it doesn’t really matter whether they’re wet or dry, though, does it?

ParticipantI just ordered these: http://www.performancebike.com/bikes/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10052&catalogId=10551&productId=1098695
My current shoes are some old Shimanos…I swear, they must by 20 years old…I bought them when I bought my first Look pedals, but now the sole on the right shoe is detaching itself in an way that isn’t fixable. I figure 20 years isn’t a bad return on a pair of shoes.

I hate putting on wet shoes… Even wet flip flops. I guess I am a bit odd in that respect, but it sounds like they dry pretty quickly. I may have to go ahead and pick up a pair. Thanks for the info!

That, kind sir, is a gorgeous ride. Can you tell us more about it?

ParticipantBeautiful work. You were right; the gumwalls look fantastic. And the accents really give it personality — well done!
Can’t remember if you mentioned earlier, but what rims are those?

2014 Specialized Allez E5 Smartweld 54cm, Sram Force 22 (39-53/11-26 175mm w/ a KMC 11spd Ti-Nitride chain – will soon be upgrading to a Red 22 11-25 cassette once my wallet recovers…), Zipp Service Course SL cockpit, November Rail 52s, Vittoria Open Corsa tires, Lizard Skins tape (i’m giving this stuff a second chance…), Specialized Romin Pro Evo saddle, and a few other little ding dongs. it rides like f-ing gangbusters – really stellar. 16.3 lbs weight.
A little history: last summer I was ready to pull the trigger on this frame, but Specialized ran out of stock so I ended up waiting a year before placing my order. Needless to say, an extra 12 months to plan out a build ends up better in the long run, if you ask me. I took it out on Saturday and only intended to ride 10-15 miles as a shake-down cruise – ended up doing 45, woot!

thanks!!!! my wife calls it “The D*ck Bike” cause it looks to her like a bike some Type-A personality, under-qualified jerk would ride (maybe one of “those” snobbish Velominati guys? Lolz!). not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing…
