ParticipantReplace stock screw that came with the incredabell with one a bit longer and you can mount them up to a 31.5. The plastic strap gives enough. I like that you can regulate both the volume and duration of the bell via the striker
Ooon yer leftttt” can get old or come out a gasping croak but the bell pings! away unchanged

New crank and wheelset. Special thanks to Hozn for doing pretty much all the work installing the BB and crank…would’ve been nearly impossible otherwise.
Nice new wheels (and crank)! Happy to help.

I’ve been looking at a lot of camera options and haven’t decided to spring for one yet. Let me know how this one is working out for you.

I looked at their website: that thing looks great! Makes me think I need one (though I don’t know why I would).

ParticipantAt breakfast this morning my family was discussing what bike to ride in different situations, and my older son reopened the topic of how much he wants a drop bar bike. “Drops are essential,” he says (I’m not making this up). So at a yard sale down the street we see this:

He loves it. $150 later he has a bike with “essential” drop bars, and we didn’t spend a fortune on a bike that will be too small for him in a year. I’ll be spending the afternoon cleaning the drivetrain and adjusting the brakes.June 28, 2014 at 10:20 pm #1004927dkel

He just informed me he needs cycling shoes now. Ugh. I’ve created a monster (a.k.a a chip off the old block!).

ParticipantDon’t forget to get a new helmet, water bottles, water bottle cages, lights, computer, gloves, shorts, jersey, and of course a road side kit.
Wow I thought golf was expensive.July 11, 2014 at 9:36 pm #1005735Emm
ParticipantI GOT A NEW BIKE! I’m excited. 2006 trek pilot 2.1.
This is a follow up to this post. I finally took the bike my finance gave me to Revolution Cycles in Clarendon last week. They checked out the sizing, and said it would work. So I got a tune up, and replaced the chain, cassette, and bottom bracket. I also switched the saddle to be a woman-specific one, and partly to make sure the fiance doesn’t try to reclaim the bike and partly because I
pink…I changed out the handlebar tape and water bottle holders.
In about 2 weeks I have an appointment with Clovis at Fresh Bikes for a fitting.

ParticipantKeens cycling sandals!
They’re great: very comfortable, breezy, SPD compatible. I’m already wondering how late in the year I’ll be able to push them before I have to get something warmer.

We can call it the Dieter.
