ParticipantSo, in August of 2018, I broke my full suspension MTB frame. It was under warranty, but because of some manufacturing issues, it never got replaced. So, almost a year and a half later, HAPPY NEW BIKE DAY! 2020 Norco Optic. Unfortunately, it has been raining and the trails are slop, so it might be a bit before I actually get a chance to ride it.

Was it that long ago that you, Tonya, Jo, and I were practicing getting over logs at the bowl? Looks like we can go play on some more obstacles, but I’d highly recommend a bash guard (always one of my first purchases with my mountain bikes)

Hahaha! Yes, it has been a while. I remember that, since it was the day my brake pads fell out somewhere along the trail. Oops!
And yes, as soon as it stops raining (or we get a hard freeze), I am planning to head up to the ‘Shed and play on some rocks.

ParticipantHello all,
I am new to the forum (and to forums in general, so apologies for any process fouls!) and I just bought a new bike that I am super excited about — a Fuji Jari 2.5.
I wanted something I could commute to work on, and that I could take for longer rides on the weekends, and my budget is pretty limited. It’s the first bike I have ever purchased new.
Thus far I am loving the way it rides. Even with all of the fenders and the rack and my full backpack it feels like riding a feather after riding the capital bikeshare tanks for the past several years!
I’m planning on doing a pretty long ride this summer, so any tips or advice on how to keep it in good condition or things I should get to make a 50+ mile ride more fun/comfortable would be appreciated!

ParticipantOMG LOOK AT MY PRETTY NEW PINK BIKE!!!
After months of staring at pictures of the pink Salsa Warbird online, my S.O. finally commented that I needed to “stop illicitly looking at pictures of the damn bike and go buy it”. So… I did! Thanks to Bikenetic for making the whole process go smoothly.
One thing I found that kinda annoyed me is that Salsa’s geometry changed a bit from 2018, when I had last tried the Warbird. Back then, the 55 was the perfect size for me. This year, I was at the high end of the 54.5 sizing recommendations, and the low end of the 56. The 54.5 was a more comfortable standover height for me, but I hit my knees on the handlebars when I got out of the saddle to climb, and the whole bike felt awkwardly small. The staff at Bikenetic warned me they thought the 54.5 was smaller than it should have been (and they had some theories about some weird sizing issues at Salsa…), so at least I got a fair warning that it likely wasn’t the right fit. So the 56 was purchased after a test ride, and we checked it by measuring my favorite-fitting bike for comparison to make sure I wasn’t doing anything crazy. Per my usual, I will shrink down the handlebars, and I may just shorten the stem a little if I need to. It rides wonderfully, and I can’t wait to ride it to Harpers Ferry this weekend on it!

Niiiice. That color is pretty fu*&in’ cool. And the pink is the Di2 model right? If you haven’t already checked it out, the Di2 wifi module (WU111) is super handy. It lets you program the shifting with your phone (for example, I have mine set up to auto shift the front chain ring depending on the gear I’m on on the back) and it lets your Garmin display your gearing, and I think also make minor adjustments to derailleur trim and things like that. It’s totally plug-and-play and you can install it anywhere along the Di2 wiring.
Also, I’ve never ridden a Salsa, but I always thought their geometry looked a little funky. Not ugly or weird or anything, just different. Maybe it’s the degree to which they slop their top tubes…

ParticipantOooh. Look how many things you can bolt to that front fork.

Yes, it’s my first DI2 bike! It’s sooooo nice. I will totally look into the wifi module, that seems super cool.

It also came with space for 3 water bottle cages in the triangle, BUT I have no idea how on earth you’d actually fit 3 water bottles, since the 2 along the down tube are very close together…

The third mount is to hold your speaker for when you are really rockin’!

I am SO jealous that you were able to fit the 56. I tried, because I wanted those three cage mounts, but alas, it was just a smidge too big.
To fit three bottles, you need to use shorties (20 ounce) in the down tube cages. You may also need side load cages, but I run those anyway.
Congrats on the new bike! Because you got the larger size, my friend Laurie got the 54.5. We can all be Warbird buddies!

ParticipantYou will LOVE Di2 and rue the days you ride anything else. I’ve had Di2 since the earliest iteration and I can’t say enough good things about it. And I have “D-Fly” modules on all of them, which I also recommend. I haven’t yet done any of the “auto shifting” setups but I like that they are an option. Plus it’s great to see what gear you’re in, exact percent of battery remaining, and you can program your shifters to do whatever you want them to do. The “extra” shifters on the top of the hoods on my Tarmac are programmed to control screens on my Garmin.
But most importantly, that is a beautiful bike!!! Enjoy!

Use a side load cage on the lower down tube mount.[emoji6]
I second all on the Di2. You’ll want it on all you’re bikes now…that’s not a bad thing!
