Fairfax County Police has posted a digital sign next to a W&OD intersection in Reston(Issac Newton Square) saying something about a safety education. That intersection has a bit more traffic than other similar intersections. My guess is that some local residents complained.
The sign is pointed at those heading East, so if you are going West, you can’t read it before Uncle Sam hone in to you.
From FABB
FABB is proud to be working with the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) to improve bicycle education among police, bicyclists, and motorists. Thanks to this cooperation, the FCPD is hosting a planned socially-distanced bicycle/pedestrian safety event this coming Saturday, August 29 from 9:00 to 11:00 am adjacent to the W&OD Trail in Reston.
The FCPD will be set up next to the bike lockers at the Newton Square access road near the mile 17 marker just west of the Wiehle Avenue/Sunset Hills Road intersection. This will be great opportunity for riders to raise bike safety issues and share other concerns with our local law enforcement officers and county officials. Safety literature, snacks, water, hand sanitizer, and masks will be available.
We’ll also be there and will have a few neat giveaways, including our new FABB gaiter, to share with riders in our work and, we hope, in becoming FABB volunteers.
