ParticipantMy morning commute will be late (10:00 a.m.) and my evening even later (9:00 p.m.). I’m hoping that’s early enough to miss the start of the rain, and late enough to miss any T-storms. I enjoy wearing my waterproof gear, though, so I’ll be happy. (Seriously, that stuff was so expensive, I always feel like I’m going out for a glamorous evening when I put it on.)

. .. .Unfortunately (?), Wednesday will be my 3rd and final missed BAFS day. Catching the 6AM Acela to NY and not back until after 10pm. Yes, I could try to squeeze in a CitiBike sleaze or a late-night neighborhood sleaze ride when I get home, but what’s the point–more than 300 points out of 8th place?

What’s the point??!! Have you no self respect??!! Have you no shame?! (Have you something better to do with your time, because…that’s actually pretty impressive, compared to the rest of us, apparently!)

ParticipantBe careful out there. Wind is fun and interesting to ride through. Wind + rain makes it even more interesting. Go for overkill on visibility and lights.
Hell yes, I’m riding! I’ll ride to the office in Adams Morgan, then metro up to Rockville for a meeting. The ride home will be entertaining for sure.
Have fun!
Hugs and kisses,
Pete

If I end up getting on my stupid bike tonight at 11:15 after a 17-hour day, it will be entirely your fault, D. And you will feel my wrath at the BAFS Pointless Prizes happy hour, too.

If you see me struggling on the RCP en route home, feel free to throw out a tow line!
I totally missed this thread yesterday and vaguely heard thunderstorms. I don’t mind the rain. But 40-50mph gusts from the south when my ride is from upper NW to south of OT does not like sound like fun. I’m starting to think it will make the Calvert St climb look easy.
I feel like all of us going into any wind +40mph should be given double BAFS points. I guess if the wind sticks around for tomorrow morning then I shouldn’t complain too much.

ParticipantI brought the rain cape, so I could try for a wind assist up the Rosslyn Custis climb after work. Should be possible with SSW winds of over 20 mph. Otherwise that cape will act like an anchor if I head down the MVT and over the 4MRT/W&OD combination. Is it more dangerous is it to be riding under the powerlines during a thunderstorm?

ParticipantSure it will be crazy dangerous and difficult out there, but the odds of dying are still really low.

ParticipantI’m tentatively planning to ride but keeping metro/bus as a back up if I change my mind. The wind will be against me. If it was a tailwind I’d definitely go for it.

ParticipantYeah, I am not sure what people are complaining about. This seems like KOM weather to me!!

ParticipantI’m bad at weather. Can someone please explain which direction the wind this afternoon will be blowing. Please keep it simple. I’m from Arizona. We only have two weathers: Hot and REALLY DAMN HOT.

Winds primarily out of the south, so:
Riding south = bad
Riding north = good

ParticipantOh sweet! I’m riding northerlyish this afternoon.

ParticipantFrom the SSW to SW before 6 shifting to from the west around 8. By 11, it should be from the NW. NW to SE KOMs can be earned tomorrow morning.
