According to the Capital Weather Gang we’re in for the following:

    * Temps spike to near 70 early-mid afternoon
    * Intense line of showers/storms (poss squall line) late afternoon or early evening, with strong wind gusts poss
    * Winds crank Wednesday night, with widespread gusts in 40-50 mph range, isolated power outages poss
    * Temps tank Wednesday night, into 20s by Thursday morning; wind chills single digits and teens

I know that Pete would say 1) we are all gonna DIE and that given point 1 2) WSGFABR. How do the rest of you plan to deal with this — CABI, ride it out or, horror of horrors Metro?

I like keeping a car at work; it gives me one “get out of jail free card”, which I anticipate using tomorrow evening. I don’t mind riding in the rain, but my wife would not appreciate me riding in thunderstorms. And she would definitely not appreciate me towing our preschooler back through said storms :) Of course, I’m sure he’d love it.

My solution is to cross my fingers and hope for the best. But I may try to get into work early so I can leave before the storms roll through.

I think I’m going to ride in but will be prepared to leave my bike at the office (yay indoor parking!) if the winds are too much in the afternoon.

Winds out of the south, you’ll have to settle for the Ohio Dr. segment.

    Well said!
My solution is to clean and regrease the Black Battleship, wash and re-Nickwax all my rain gear, and roll with studded tires (in case the rain turns into black ice)
This could be my one chance to finally catch up with consularider and subby!

Yeah, anyone attempting it would maybe need a fast teammate or three to draft off as well.

Back on topic, I will a) try to get in early and b) probably do a partial commute.

My TSB is way too low. :D

My ongoing solution is partly this, and partly ignoring weather reports. So far, I haven’t missed a day of BAFS, so I guess it’s working.

And… go to the source: NOAA.GOV. In the words of the Profit Paul Simon:

“I don’t believe what I read in the papers
They’re just out to capture my dime”

Commercial news sources like to sensationalize to keep you addicted and keep coming back. I find NOAA.gov far more accurate and far less sensational.

Wednesday sounds stormy – but no more so than any other stormy day.

Riding as I normally would. From the sounds of the forecast, it could be an epic ride, but I’ve ridden on windier days than what they’re forecasting for Wednesday evening. That said, I know I’ll be cursing every single gust of wind that smacks me in the face since both Wednesday evening and Thursday AM will be into strong and gusty headwinds for me.

True enough but if we all did that we won’t be able to pass the working hours planning our survival!

Ah spring. When my concern for the weather changes from how many socks do I need to wear, to Radar watching for squall line dodging. I forgot how much fun that game is.
