Every year, I send a message out to my office letting them know about BTWD since my officemates aren’t generally aware of BTWD unless they are already cyclists. I like to try to include a local cycling factoid as a teaser. I haven’t had phenomenal success turning non-cyclists into cyclists, but I’ve seen some newcomers (obviously can’t say it was due to me). Maybe your factoid will make the difference. Can you offer a factoid?

I could share my factoid from last year, but then you would all tell me I got my facts wrong.

Ok, you’ve pried it out of me – here it is. I don’t know you people anyway. “I only know of one non-work destination in the metro area that can be driven to but cannot be reached by bicycle.”

You need to pair that with, “And I know lots of places one can get to by bike but cannot be reached by car.”

Where can one see a collection of 10 years of Bike To Work Day t-shirts?

“What’s the one day of the year when you eagerly start your commute over an hour early and are still late to work?”

    Guilty. Every. Time.

Cycling is more efficient than driving or walking.

Cyclists get to eat more without gaining weight than otherwise sedentary people.

Pneumatic tires were used for bikes before they were used for cars.

Without bicycling, more crazy people would be behind the wheel of a car.

Doing a selfie on a bike doesn’t hurt as bad as a selfie in the car :D

    Thanks, all! See you tomorrow.

The site I had in mind for “cannot be reached by bicycle” was Turkey Run Park but GWMP scenic overlook above Donaldson Run is probably in a similar boat.
