Remember to get your votes in by Sunday, December 6! Voting will close at 11:59 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Ok, newbie question – what is the primary intent of the identifiers, beyond waving and saying hello?
The identifiers:
- help you identify other FS participants, either from this year or from previous years
- serve as a conversation starter, when people ask you why you have a bright green zipper pull/ankle band/gaiter/whatever
- establish your bona fides as a Rule 9 badass
- all of the above!

Can someone please share a link to all the rules? I’ve heard of them and never read them all in one place. Thanks!

Agree with any of these. Helmet cover or gaiter would likely get the most use by me.
December 9, 2021 at 2:39 am #1115070SerdarParticipantAccording to poll results, we get ankle bands.

December 9, 2021 at 10:29 pm #1115077jfryloveParticipantI never knew…I rode in 2020 and was able to meet folks, and then tried to ride in 2021, but all the remote work effectively removed my commute…now I will be looking for reflective ankle bands as I do my lunch time spin in 2022!
December 10, 2021 at 3:07 am #1115082komorebiParticipantThanks to everyone who participated in the poll or replied in the thread!
I already placed an order for the ankle bands, but I wanted to respond to a couple of ideas mentioned in the thread.
- Helmet covers: I floated this idea a few years ago, but I got shot down by (1) the people with Lumos helmets who didn’t want to cover up their helmet lights, and (2) the people who feared the dorkiness factor. The consensus was that everyone who wanted a helmet cover already had one.
- Toe covers: I personally would never use these. I switch to boots as soon as the weather gets cold.
- Gaiter: There’s an easy solution for this one: 2021 gaiter + sharpie.
December 10, 2021 at 2:16 pm #1115084secstateParticipantIt’s nice to rotate through the options. I now have a fun collection of BAFS things. I will say the one that is most recognizable and gets the most comments is the green tag that hangs from my saddle.
December 10, 2021 at 2:34 pm #1115085huskerdontParticipantI’m sitting it out this year so that I can engage in other outdoor activities I love without feeling like I’m letting team members down, but I’ll say hey when I see the ankle bands around.

You can always participate as a “Friend of Freezing Saddles” by joining the Strava club. You can also participate in various reindeer games (things like Calvinball or scavenger hunts like in previous years).
