    Arlington still needs volunteer help

Please see below. Great opportunity to help Arlington and the NPS help us!

    Dear folks,

We are just a week out from the next Arlington County volunteer bicycle and pedestrian count event. We will count in three sessions on:

Thursday, September 12, from 7-9:00 am and from 4-6:00 pm, and on
Saturday, September 14, from 12-2:00 pm.

The number of confirmed volunteers this year is lower than we would like to see this close to the event. On the other hand, there are still plenty of open times for those who might choose to participate now. Please see the attached sign-up sheet for available places. For those who have already offered to help out – we’re very grateful. Please double check to see that we have recorded your preferred times and locations correctly. We may juggle assignments a bit to concentrate on places where we have automatic counting equipment. Volunteer observers in the field allow us to validate the machine counts. For those who haven’t yet offered to help in this year’s event, we welcome your participation.

    Please attend the:

    Training session on
    Wednesday, September 11, 7-8:30 pm

at Courthouse Plaza (the main County office building), 2100 Clarendon Blvd, in the Azalea room on the lobby level. Don’t worry if you can’t come; we can send the materials via email, and prepare you over the phone. Just indicate by return email that you would like the orientation.

Feel free to distribute this request to others. We’d like to make a good showing for this once-per-year volunteer effort.

    Please direct responses to: bikepedcounts@arlingtonva.us

    Many thanks,
