Hey forum people. The PAL Ambassadors have been making Burma Shave signs for future block party events. What we found at last week’s Wine, Cheese and Poetry party was that it was a lot of fun and also therapeutic. What would you like to say to drivers? Make a funny poem/rhyme/jingle about it. Many we can’t use because of their content. Honestly, those are some of the funniest ones.

If you have a little time, come up with one or two! Let your mind go and have fun with this. I’ll share some examples.

If you don’t know what a Burma Shave Sign is, the image at the top is one from Wikipedia. Here’s there article on them.

Keep in mind that the audience is drivers. The subject is safe streets and being Predictable, Alert and Lawful. :D

    Thanks!

    I don’t care if you’re
    A car or a trucker
Give me 3 feet when you pass me
    You stupid…..

That’s as far as I got. I’ll think of a rhyme eventually and get back to you.

Fun use of a work break; I’m sure more will pop into my head as the day goes on. Here’s what I have made so far (I think some of these would work on trails, too):

    Sharing spaces
    Safer places
    Happy faces

    Look both ways
    Live more days

    P’s and Q’s
    Make nicer U’s

    A good fellow
    Slows on yellow

    Look before
    Right on red
    So no one
    Ends up dead

    Used a light
    Seen at night

    Try a bell
    before a yell

    When he yells
    His breath smells

    If you want
    To give a shout
    Count to 10
    Try it out

If you accept the fact that a car (thing) is different than a trucker (person) I can save you a couple of syllables.

    in a car or truck
    three feet please
    you …

This one doesn’t rhyme but I still like it. It was painted on a retaining wall on a hairpin bend on a road leading up to Darjeeling in India

Better to be 15 minutes late in this world
Than 15 minutes early in the next

    How about:
    To peeps in the crosswalk
    You should yield
    Because these peeps
Don’t come with a force field

    Bonus points for visuals
