ParticipantOh yeah. Anyone who can make jokes with SQL is OK with me. That and jokes involving line charts.

I am a little disappointed that I won’t get to 10k this year. I have severely tapered off past couple of months (new baby, more complex logistics). It’s a wonderful reason to fall short … but still feels like it was so close. I don’t know that next year happen, since I’m not doing Freezing Saddles (that sure helped). But 2015 is my goal for 10k miles.December 3, 2013 at 9:01 pm #987451TwoWheelsDC
ParticipantJeebus…I’m only looking to hit 5.5k. I don’t know that I will ever be un-lazy enough to hit 10k, and I’m okay with that.

ParticipantAaaaaaannnnd this is why the Freezing Saddles teams are handicapped. Looking at Strava at how I am coming up on 2K (yipeee!)

ParticipantI hit 10,000 months ago. . .
Smiles while riding my bike to work that is.
I’ve also honked at Canada Geese at least 20 times this year, and had about 10 of them honk back. Those are my metrics.

Less javascript, more coffeescript.

For awhile we were trying to come up with a good team T-shirt at work. We were using JavaScript extensively so we were trying to think of something funny with anonymous callbacks or callback chaining … or prototype object model … But we never came up with anything T-shirt worthy.
I like Mikey’s metrics. I hope that I have 10k smiles, but I suspect some of them were actually grimaces as I tried to hang on or catch back up to Tim K flying around Hains Point.

[/quote]There’s always the classic from this hilarious video:

ParticipantBreaking my wrist didn’t slow me down much. Getting the cast off sure did though. It’s been a great year. There have been some amazing rides. I’m looking forward to doing more cool and different rides next year.
Highlights:
- Introducing a bunch of people to gravel riding.
- 10 people finishing Kill Bill Century
- The look on the guys face at mile 170 of Dirty Kanza when he realized that I wasn’t joking when I asked if he wanted an apple pie.
- he look on MY face at mile 130 of Dirty Kanza when I realized I had one pie left before the last checkpoint (I was hurting and really needed a pie).
- Leading a large group of people to the finish of Dirty Kanza because night had fallen and I brought 3000 Lumen of lights and they brought none. It was an awesome feeling picking up people who otherwise would have been walking most of the last 20 miles. It was a trainload of happy.
- Meeting my friend Bart in Idaho. He was a stranger that helped me transport my bike bag into town. We worked together on the last 60 miles of Private Idaho so that he could finish. He showed up at the ride on a whim and hadn’t really trained for it.
Thanks for an awesome year, y’all! You rock!

Ever see Orbital Sciences’ jerseys? They say “It really is rocket science” on them.

ParticipantI set my goal at 2500 miles this year (being only my third year as a “serious” cyclist), and I’m now only 22 miles short of 3000.
Considering the timing of Christmas and New Year’s (over a weekend), I’m going to take a serious stab at the Festive 500 to get some last ditch miles in!
