Hi, this is Jeff, bad but nevertheless esteemed captain. I and reluctant elf doggie welcome you to Team 4’s main social page. Please bookmark this thread for info on social rides, as well as complaints, questions, concerns, encouragement, advice, and so on.
Please join this club: https://www.strava.com/clubs/335178 if and only if you’re a member of this team.
My goals for this year are to ride safe, avoid crashes and illness, have lots of fun rides, including cooperative rides with teams 5 and 6 (and perhaps others) who share our main ride region, which is DC northward and eastward into northern Prince Geo’s county and eastern Montgomery. I ride mostly out of Proteus bike shop so I will frequently be mentioning those social rides for our mutual pleasure.
Apologies in advance for my bad captaincy — I will be on vacation and pretty much out of bike range from Jan 20 to Feb 3. So I’ll be asking others to please volunteer to coordinate rides and bike-oriented fun times.
Thanks, and Welcome!

Team 7 also volunteers for cooperative rides (I volunteer them). We seem to be lately congregated in PG County with a few here and there in MoCo. See you all at the Proteus rides

ParticipantRicky here. I haven’t had a haircut in 4+ years, make memes/work from home in College Park, don’t own a road bike, and like jumping over cylindrical objects, big and small. I won’t pack on a lot of miles, but I’ll try to be consistent. Hope to meet the rest of you Delicate Snowflakes soon!

Participanthowdy team, i’m jon. i live and work in rockville, so i’ll be up here most of the time, though i should be able to make my way to a couple group rides with you fine folks. i’m going to be out on a cruise from january 25-30, but i’m going to try to hunt down some way to ride on the days that we’re on land. i’m really hoping someone brings a folding bike on the ship and i can ride it around deck a couple times, but i kind of doubt that’ll happen.

ParticipantThe other Jeff here.
I live near Wheaton, and work near the White Flint Metro. I’m also running the #survivor pointless prize.
2017 was my return to the bike after being put in the ICU by a car in August 2016. Even with that I was able to ride over 1000 miles in 2016. This will be my second dip into the insanity of Freezing Saddles. My goal is two commute days a week. At least one sleaze ride on one of the non-commute days, and one weekend/group ride every fortnight.
Hope to meet the rest of you on the road soon!

ParticipantI’m Patty. I live in Silver Spring and work in DC. I am a competitive cyclist (on the Colavita team) but mostly a commuter who loves to ride. I commute to work every day and haven’t missed a day in 6+ years. This is my first time doing Freezing Saddles. Happy to be on your team!

ParticipantHey all –
I’m Eric and I live and work in College Park and I regularly ride out of the Proteus shop. This is my first freezing saddles, and my first time riding through the winter. I commute to work at least one day a week and I’m looking to get out as often as I can. I’m looking forward to group rides and meeting you all.

ParticipantI think all agree Ricky should get double miles on the dirt and bonus for the socks.

ParticipantHi all – Shane here. Pleased to meet you all and to be on the #4 train. First timer as well. I live in Bethesda, work in DC, and started riding a couple of years ago after a knee blow out situation. I started commuting at the suggestion of a friend in 2016 and ride to work and elsewhere as many days as possible now. Cheers!

ParticipantI’ve made everyone an admin on the Strava club so you can upload pictures, kick off non-Freezing Saddles interlopers, change the team name etc. Last year the team name changes got a little out of hand (the dreaded Podium! team 7) but we’ll see.

ParticipantHey folks! My name is Millie and this is my fourth Freezing Saddles. My goal is to ride every day – just as I have for the first three years that I competed. I live in College Park and also do group rides with Proteus, sometimes as a volunteer ride leader. The monkey in my personal wrench is that I pull 12 hour shifts that rotate between nights and days, so you won’t necessarily see me getting the most miles on the weekends. But.. this is my second year of doing both shiftwork and FS, so I think I’ll be okay. Going to Michigan for a week in January – hoping to borrow a bike while I’m there from my Dad. See you all around!

ParticipantHello everyone. My name is Eddie and I am a FS newbie. I live in Gaithersburg but do most of my riding in Potomac and Germantown. I’m a full time telecommuter so no daily commute points but my goal is ride every day in between conference calls (sometimes even during the call). I historically have been a fair weather only rider but FS has given me that extra nudge to go out there and haven’t missed a day. I haven’t met any of you yet but I’m hoping to change that very soon.
Let’s go win this thing and have fun doing it!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
