ParticipantThanks for organizing, Chuck. Looks like it was the most well attended event outside of opening Happy Hour.

You’re most welcome! Since not a ride per se, easy peasy to do if all you’re doing is giving people a time and place to meet. Will have to figure out the next one!

ParticipantKudos and big thanks to Chuck and all those came out for Sunday’s gathering. Covered a descent amount of “grounds” and KCals, the only thing that would’ve made this past Sunday more delightful is if Brady cried in defeat instead…

ParticipantHey gang! Thinking we should try to do at least one more Duffy’s ride before Freezing Saddles ends. On a Sunday so Helen can join in (since I know she has to be at Bikenetic on Saturdays). Depending on weather, probably either February 26 or March 5. March 12 is also a possibility but that’s selection day for March Madness and I don’t know if Duffy’s would be a gathering spot for NCAA hoops followers that day. We would do the same as last time. Depart from Java Shack 1030-ish (or maybe a little earlier) with ETA at Duffy’s noon-ish. I thought maybe we’d do the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail on the other side of the river for a change of scenery. It would be marginally longer. And we could take a detour onto Kingman and Heritage Islands if folks are comfortable enough riding their bikes off pavement for a short bit.

So what say y’all?
Am having a conversation with Tom to see how many of us he could realistically accommodate. I know last time we were pretty much owned the place. Just need to figure out bike parking. I know we can use the storage room and behind the bar in the back room, which is probably good for ~10 bikes. We may even be able to use the entire back room for bikes. There are bike racks out front for those who bring locks and can lock up their bikes. And we could always “stack up” bikes in front of the window and “fence them off” with chairs if folks are comfortable with that. If the weather is warm enough, we could also just take over the front patio.
If I can sort out the bike parking, will put the ride on the Freezing Saddles Official-ish Calendar and open it up to infiltration.

ParticipantGreetings folks,
Anyone interested in riding the hills of Arlington this Saturday? I used to do a Saturday morning shop ride with Tri360 that winds through North Arlington, here’s an example:https://www.strava.com/activities/287755517
These rides ended after the Tri360 closed down. I’ve been told that Conte’s Falls Church has restarted this ride as of this past weekend, so I’m wondering if anyone is interested in doing this ride, and then ride out to Caboose afterwards to grab some brew & food? For those that prefer not to do hills, we could have a second group that take an alternate route and just reconvene at Caboose afterwards?
Thoughts?

I might be able to hit this one. (depending on how weak a reason the family comes up with for me to be doing something else)

I have a thumbs up from Tom for us to basically take over Duffy’s on either Sunday February 26 or Sunday March 5. We can park bikes in the storage room and the back bar/dining area if we’re indoors. Or we can have the entire patio if we’re indoors. So I need to hear from Squadra Quattordici members for which date works best for us to have critical mass. I won’t finalize the ride until mid-week of that week depending on the weather forecast. Sorry, but not doing this ride in the rain. So one plan could be to go for February 26 and make March 5 our fallback if the weather turns to crap. Whatever date we end up with, I’ll put on BAFS calendar and infiltrators welcome.

HF, for those not wanting to do the hills loop, I will volunteer to take a crew on the Strong Women Ride on Saturday (meets at 10am at Howard U metro station) and then meet your group at the caboose after. Any ladies interested???

ParticipantI’ll be out of town this Saturday, but that hills route looks fun, so I’d love to join another week.
A repeat Duffy’s ride sounds great. I should be able to join on either day – 2/26 or 3/5
