    Hey gang!

    Looks like we should have decent weather on Sunday, so let’s do this! Roll from Java Shack in Arlington at 1015. Get there earlier if you want to get coffee points. Slightly different route than how we went last time. We’ll ride the Riverwalk Trail on the other side of the Anacostia. ~18 miles with one lap around HP. Not intended to be a “fast” ride. We’ll ride as fast as the slowest person in the group can ride to keep up. I had us at 13.4mph average speed when we did this before.

    Please feel free to invite friends (I’m inviting a couple). And there’s room for infiltrators too. The ride is posted on the BAFS Offical-ish Calendar. However, please let me know about any “extras” who are joining us (either the ride or meeting at Duffy’s) just so I can give Tom some idea of how many of us to expect. We will likely be the only people there (at least when Duffy’s opens). Tom said we can park bikes in the storage room in the back and in the back bar area. So should be able to accommodate up to 20 of us without a bike storage problem. More than 20 and some folks will have to park their bikes outside. There are bike racks if you have a lock. Otherwise, we can put bikes in front of the window and “wall them off” with chairs on the patio. And those folks can sit at tables at the window to keep an eye on their bikes.

    Lot’s of different ways you could get to Duffy’s winding through DC. Just depends how direct a route you want to take.

    No worries. Will miss having you ride with us. I think we still have the minimum number (4) so that this is still an official BAFS team ride/event.

    Who else is riding on Sunday???

    I’m planning to ride Sunday – Meet at Java Shack , ride to Duffy’s. I’d love to do the route you’re doing – 18+ miles – but might be slower. Anyone else want to ride with me – I think I’ll probably average 9-12 mph rather than… 12-15?

    I’d like to encourage any would be infiltrators who are more “casual” riders to please ride with streetsmarts. I would love for her to be able to ride the same route as the “faster” group. But should probably leave 30 minutes earlier to be able to get Duffy’s at about the same time.

    I’d do it and her pace would be fine for me, but I will need to be at Valley and Kenwood in Alexandria that morning (QueenoftheMark has prevailed upon the Mayor to speak to the Agudas Achim Sisterhood, and QOTM wants maximum turn out, even if I am not a “sister”) so probably can’t leave that location till around noon.

    I will do the same as last week. Meet the group at Glebe and Chesterbrook ~0845 … assuming they’re not slackers and late like last week. :) Then break off after the country club climb to go home.

    We didn’t have an official team ride to Duffy’s because just three of us: me, HF, and Chris. Plus my friends Bob and Ben (not BAFSers). And no infiltrators. But a fun ride to Duffy’s nonetheless. Chris and Ben had to head back to Arlington, so just me, HF, and Bob for wings, beers, and … wait for it … pupusas! The pupusas were awesome! That’s what happens when you have a Salvadoran cook in an Irish pub. Y’all missed a great ride and great food and drink!
