I switched my commuter bike a Cannondale Topstone to tubeless 2 years ago. I decided to switch my new Pinarello 2022 to tubeless. I had been taking my bike to the shop for all my tubeless work, but decided now that I am switch my road bike I should try to do it my self. I have all the supplies still waiting on the floor pump compressor. How hard is it to set your own road bike tubeless tires? I watched several YouTubes they make it look easy. How hard is it for a first timer?

By “floor pump compressor” do you mean something like this: https://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=90584&category=132?

If so, I recommend loading it to about double the goal tire pressure to ensure a good “pop” of the bead into place. Also, put some lightly soapy water on the tire-rim interface area, all the way around and on both sides. Before that, use at least 2 layers of rim tape. Otherwise at road-bike pressures (even though lower than tubed-tire pressures) the rim tape will stretch too much into the spoke holes so that remounting the tire won’t work without re-taping the rim.

If you have good quality tires and rims, the mounting process really is pretty easy.

Or a better site might be YouClueless? It’s what I need most of the time.

It’s been a couple weeks, did you get the bike set up?
