ParticipantYou got your Shirlington and your Fairlington and Clarendon, and you used to have Parkington, how about Loopington?
The Tour of Arlington was what it was called by the Greater Washington Bicycling Atlas, BTW.

ParticipantI vote we simply call it “the Tour” and let the bike gods sort it out.

Remember–we want it to encompass the transportation aspects that so many commuters use it for!

If you go that route it should be “tri-way” or “three-way” since it combines three separate bike paths… So you call up your friends for a ride and say, “anyone up for a three way?”
That’s why I stayed away from the tri-lingo. I know how your minds work.
Bipedal is an adjective that means using only two legs for walking. It’s a nice play on words for cyclists too.
So it could be the Arlington Bipedal Way.
The Arlington Loop is fine as long as you know what it is. Otherwise, if I’m from out of town or new to the area I’ll probably assume it’s for cars.

Actually it’s four different trails–you’re forgetting the Four Mile Run Trail connector between the MVT and W&OD!

ParticipantABL. Arlington Bike Loop. Simple enough.

ParticipantOr BLA – Bike Loop of Arlington.
No, I’m not serious.

ParticipantOr, if we’re just trying to appease the League: LAB — Loop of Arlington by Bike

Or, The Arlington Bi-way.
It is a play on highway but because it moves people under their own power, whether it is their two feet or two wheels, it is differentiated from a road.Branding this is important.
I like that! A play on words. Could be used elsewhere too.

Wow, you’re almost as sick as I am.

ParticipantSomething else to keep in mind–it’s a multi-use trail so we need to be mindful of other users who might be on it as well and not just have it bicycle focused. Pedestrians, rollerbladers, cross country skiers, etc…

ParticipantSince they are shared use trails, a simple “Arlington Trails Loop”?

and horseback riders…
As a member of the general public (not BA) I personally feel like the word “Loop” implies a recreational, fitness trail. Even though many people use it for this purpose, I think the main goal is to really make people aware that it is also widely used as a transportation corridor. Commuters aren’t going around the Loop to get to work, rather they’re using chunks of it. I’m not very creative so my suggestions are limited, but I wanted to mention that maybe try not to focus on synonyms for Loop or words that imply that it’s a circular trail. It’s a transit network just like the metro is – although I don’t think people ride that for fun

ParticipantInstead of trying to re-name our beloved Arlington Loop, maybe we could create some sort of a guide that highlights some of the useful and fun places to get to from various parts of it. For example, places that are easily accessible from the Courthouse exit (Bayou Bakery, the Courthouse Farmer’s Market, etc.) and in turn, some of those businesses, on their websites, might want to offer suggested directions from the loop.
