Hey y’all, I know I’ve only met a very small few of you to this point in time, so please pardon me if this comes off as too forward.

This summer, I’ll be co-leading a group of 30 young adults as we bike from Portsmouth, NH to Vancouver, BC. The ride is organized by the non-profit organization, Bike & Build, and we’ll be building houses along the route with programs like Habitat for Humanity to help make affordable housing more available to those who need it, and to educate those who aren’t aware of such a need. Each leader and rider is required to raise $4,500 before the start of the trip, and this money goes to local housing organizations along our route, recipients of a Bike & Build grant, projects and people that support B&B, and more. Last summer Bike & Build raised over $600,000 thanks to nearly 300 riders, and we’re looking to do that again this year.

I’ve got a blog that’s getting some notice now (and I’ve only just started it), so if you decide to donate and have a company or something that you’d like to advertise I’d be more than happy to slap a linked logo on the sidebar. I also plan on sending post cards to donors from places along the route, so if there’s a place of interest that you’d like one from I can make that happen!

Here’s is a picture of the route and our schedule, and I made a sort of game out of it:
Help me get across the country! Sponsor $1 per mile, or $30 for a Rest Day, or $70 for a Build Day…but any amount helps ultimately.

Thank you so much for reading this far if you have, it means a lot :). If y’all got any questions about the program, or the affordable housing initiative, or how much wind I’m expecting to hit in Montana, I’d be happy to chat!

My donation link is here: http://bikeandbuild.org/rider/6196
    My blog is here: gogogadgetbikethighs.tumblr.com
Info on the organization is here: Bike & Build
Info on our route is here: Northern US

And I know I’m asking a lot already, but I was hoping there might be someone I could borrow a trainer from temporarily for a day or two? I’d like to set it up outside a supermarket and spin away for some hours on an upcoming weekend.

Awesome that you’re doing it. I’ll hit up your fund raising stuff when I get back from ROW. Have a good week, sir! Nice riding with you.

Thank you for the offer good sir, but I don’t think I have the balance to stay up on rollers for a few hours haha. I used to own a pair from cycleops actually, always felt too tense no matter how much time I spent riding them. But thanks!

And thank you Dirt, that’s really awesome of ya. Good luck on the ride! If I wasn’t working in Herndon I’d try and shoot over for the finish.

Had an awesome weekend at a retreat in Philly. I’m starting to feel really prepared for this trip. If any of ya are interested, the blog is seeing some daily posts, some are long, some are silly, but I try to make sure it gives a good read.

And as always, if you’re able to spare it, a donation would be extremely appreciated.

Jacques, thank you so so much!!
Is there a certain destination along the route that you’d like a post card from?

It’s been an incredible couple weeks getting this under way, but I’m only $10 away from $1000!! How crazy, I wasn’t expecting so much generosity in this economy.
So, thank you to all who have donated to this point, it means a great deal to me. Make sure you put me on your list of people to call on for your next fundraising event, I’d love to return the favor.

Great strides have been made in fundraising for this trip, however, much of the credit due belongs to my parents for sending out letters to their friends and colleagues. I’ve got about about a month and a half to go, and have currently had a $3,440 in donations. Incredible right?
I’d like to thank the members here who’ve donatedL K. Lewis, Jacques, K. Lizotte, and E. MacGregor, your generosity is very appreciated, thank you.

And as a reminder to everyone, if you donate, which you totally should ;), you will get a handwritten thank you card and a handwritten post card or three from during the trip (you can choose from where if you’d like).
So, please help me help people, instead of buying a coffee, or getting extra chicken on a delicious burrito, donate a few bucks and feel awesome about yourself.
Righteous, thanks y’all, hope all is well.
