Incidentally, with the change in government in Uttar Pradesh, the cycle tracks are likely to be demolished. Already, motorcycles are using them with impunity in some spots. They were a pet project of the previous chief minister, and so there is not really an organized constituency to defend them.

LUCKNOW: The Yogi Adityanath government is all set to demolish bicycle tracks at stretches where these are hampering traffic movement or have narrowed down the existing roads.
The previous Akhilesh government had constructed over 100km of bicycle track in Lucknow and Noida while it had planned to build another 270 km elsewhere in UP.
