Dear wintertime riders,
If you’re planning to join us at the opening happy hour for Freezing Saddles 2019, then now is the time to weigh in on the date.
We have two options:
Monday, 7 January 2019 (6 pm onwards)
or
Thursday, 10 January 2019 (6 pm onwards)Please check your calendars. If you have issues with either of those dates, or a strong preference for one over the other, please reply on this thread.
This is not an RSVP list…we’ll set that up shortly, once we nail down the date.
For those who have not previously participated in our Freezing Saddles celebrations, they are a fun and festive way to make new friends and see old ones. If you’re competing in Freezing Saddles this year, the opening happy hour is a chance to meet your teammates and other wintertime riders. The event will take place at the Bier Baron, located in Foggy Bottom near Dupont Circle in DC.
Please let me know ASAP if you have issues with the proposed dates.
Warmest regards,

I agree with Josh that Thursday would be preferable.

You could always have orchestra practice at happy hour. I’m requesting Ave Maria.

Aside from the fact that we don’t take requests during rehearsal, the number and height of the logistical hurdles of such a combined event boggles the mind.
On the other hand, a group ride to our January and/or March concerts would be an excellent FS social activity.

And the trombone players would just cause all sorts of troubles.

I doubt Bier Barron will have it, but it sounds good.

The Brikskellar would have had it on the menu, but been out of it when you asked

Nice. I might do a pre-FS to the show on 12/15.

This is to confirm that our Freezing Saddles welcome celebration will be held on Thursday, 10 January 2019 from 6 pm onward at the Bier Baron near Dupont Circle/Foggy Bottom. Details to follow.
The event will be open to all winter riders regardless of whether you are competing in Freezing Saddles…the more the merrier. Please mark your calendars.
(Let’s wait ‘til December to start the RSVP list… November feels too early!)
Looking forward. w&wNovember 29, 2018 at 3:16 am #1091683christopher1ParticipantHi Wheels and wings!
I prefer January 10th as my book club will get mad if I miss another one!
