I’m planning a group #goldenspike outing to the National Capital Trolley Museum on the antepenultimate (next-to-next-to-last) day of Freezing Saddles. The museum is only open on Saturday afternoons, and I want to do it after the time shift to EDT for a daylit ride home. So the 16th of March it must be.

Stay tuned for details, including riding route options.

    Hi Folks,

I have finalized the routes for the National Capital Trolley Museum Ride. Let’s plan on meeting at Union Station in DC at 10:30. Meeting point is the end of the MBT, at the once-and-future bike parking shed. It’s an 18-mile ride to the museum. Mostly trails and low-traffic roads, and Sligo Creek Parkway.

The museum visit should take about two hours to see everything and take a couple of trolley rides. Admission is $12, and they prefer credit cards. Plan on bringing a lock to secure your bike.

The return ride is back to Peirce Mill in Rock Creek Park. There is a lunch stop at the shopping center at Layhill Rd., with many food options. After that we’ll be on the Matthew Henson Trail for a bit, then some quiet streets and Beach Drive.

Hope to see you there. Questions/concerns: email dcmcrider@gmail.com

    Thanks!

Trolley Museum ride is still on, and the forecast looks great for Saturday. Partly cloudy, mid-60s, no wind…

I hope the Rock’n’Roll Marathon street closures won’t be an issue in the morning, but I figure people are riding, so it won’t be a problem.

I’d like to get a rough headcount, so either post here or on the Strava group if you’re interested.
