Sailing the W&OD

I have a work bud who lives out west of here, and he’s agreed to haul me and my bike out to Purcellville after work. Looking forward to a nice 35 mile ride with a sweet tailwind all the way back to Falls Church.

I may set a PR for this one, but I’ll have to put an asterisk after it for “wind-aided”…

For the rest of you headed into the wind today… SUCKAS!

The W&OD is the bermuda triangle of wind. I had plenty of days where the weather said it would be a tailwind, I got out there and got a headwind instead.

But yeah, the days with a strong steady tailwind are sweet.

It takes a lot to make me smile out here in my Sterling warehouse, but thoughts of heading EB this afternoon after fighting my way out here this morning are making me very happy… In fact I think the wind angle is just about right for a broad reach.. if only I were thicker I could take advantage of it!

I always get a headwind on the W&OD – but why going both ways? It’s just not fair!

I didn’t think yesterday was quite as bad as a few weeks ago, but it was fun riding across 14th St Bridge (ok, really Mason, but I will never call it by it’s right now except in paranthesis) and tilting into the wind.
