That is my plan! Pretty sure a 60 miler isn’t in my leg yet but depending on your speed/timing we might join you for part of surry. We’d likely do a shorter loop circling back at Chipokes.

If anyone wants to come along PM me. The Yak Bunk (as we call our condo) will be open for business!

Cool! Maybe I’ll see you on the road. Haven’t decided whether to take a hotel or just drive down and back the same day. I’m an early riser as you can see by my post time :)

If weather.com is not lying to me, it’s supposed to be 65 degrees on Sunday, in Williamsburg. Seriously!

Once or twice a winter, when the cold gets me down, I head down to Williamsburg et environs, when there’s a ten degree or so temperature differential. It helps if there’s rain forecast here, and it’s dry down there.

I think this is the week! I’m thinking a nice ferry ride over into Surry County. What do you think?

Wait, where are all the mountain crossings?

Are you stopping for ham or pork products in Smithfield?

Followup: had a lovely couple of days in Williamsburg. On Saturday I did a 65 mile loop I’ve done before, only in reverse. They got a lot more snow down there last week than we did, so the roads were still kind of schmutzy with some slush and lots of sand. There’s a spot where I knew the bridge would be out, but I took the route anyway. I ended up having to hike about half a mile through the slushy stuff because there had been no plow and no local traffic obviously.

The Sunday ride on the ferry and over to Smithsburg was nice as well. First break was at Smithsburg. Instead of the pork product I opted for a chocolate muffin. I managed to have a headwind the entire way, but nothing too terrible. The roads were flat as could be so I practiced getting down low into the drops and just staying there. Lots of verrry chasy dogs on the route as well. Bike Virginia goes through this area next June. Hopefully it will be a little more pleasant riding once everything turns green. This low marshy land, and clear-cut tree stands, and stubble-filled corn and cotton fields, can be a little bleak in February.

But the sun and warm temps were nice indeed.

Dan Snyder paid the NFL $100 million and managed to get the Redskins into the Super Bowl this year. They scored fewer points than the other team, but were still declared the champion.

$100M? That’s chump change by NFL standards. ;)

Danny Boy is still light in the wallet, after the excellent Albert Haynesworth deal. No one can outsmart Snyder. No one.

Yeah, he’s an absolute pauper by any measure.
