Proteus Bicycles Moved

In case you hadn’t heard, Proteus Bicycles moved. They’re still in the same neighborhood in College Park, but moved to the shopping center where REI used to be (Mom’s Organic Market moved over into REI’s former location, and Proteus moved into MOM’s former space).

I had a chance to stop by last night and the new space looks fantastic.

Is the Proteus cat still around? Did he make the move to the new store?

Unfortunately, I don’t think the new landlords allowed a shop cat or dog. I believe Colonel Sprocket found a new home with one of their customers.

I’ve been going to the old shop since ~1990, but I won’t miss their old location. Although it had a lot of personality, it also had a lot of problems (leaky roof, drafty walls, etc.). The new space is so MUCH nicer. It’s really big and clean. I can’t wait until they fill out with their fixtures and bikes. It’s a great upgrade and I hope they do well.

There’s no more hill to climb to get to the shop! Now I can just roll in effortlessly!
