Holmes Run is still bisected by a 30″ sewage line with virtually no warning. Luckily I’ve got good brakes.
In the past few weeks, all the signs informing trail-users to turn back have been taken down. I don’t think it was by the construction crew, but last time I tried to go through there I thought the absence of the signs meant it was fixed, so it was a bit of a shock for me, too! (and I’ve luckily got good brakes, too)

It really wasn’t that dramatic. I had 1/4 mile and one creek crossing between me and the actual sewage pipe…. plenty of room to slow down.
I pretty much figured that there were other signs. I actually was happy that I found this. It made me explore some cool alternatives.
That part of the stream is in Fairfax county, I think. It’s upstream of the new Chambliss street stream crossing, which is approximately where the City of Alexandria/County of Fairfax border is for Holmes Run.
I rode with Dogsled Guy for about 40 minutes this morning. It was awesome!
I saw him in vienna. On the W&OD there were only three tracks in the snow. Two were from his sled, and the other must have been yours! He was heading west when I passed him.
