I took Veterans’ Day off from work and decided to follow as much of the DC diamond as I could in a clockwise direction, stopping by many of the still-intact boundary stones on the way.
Wow, what a great ride. It reminds me of Washcycle’s WAGBRAD (“Washcycle’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Around DC … The ride is meant to mimic RAGBRAI, but instead of going across DC (a sprint really) it goes around – as much as possible – the perimeter of DC.”).

Thanks for the link. I looked at the differences in my route and the WAGBRAD route, and it looks like among other differences (you have to take East-West Highway in order to be able to access the North cornerstone) they took a less stressful alternative to Kenilworth to get past US-50 and the BW Parkway and a smarter alternative to cutting through the Marlborough House apartment complex (I didn’t mention that in order to exit on the south side, which had been locked off, I ended up having to climb over the fence, bike and all).
Just finished a video of some riding I did last weekend in the beautiful autumn weather. The path is from Holmes Run Trail down to Cameron Run and then along Eisenhower Avenue before ending at the Eisenhower statue at Eisenhower Circle in Alexandria.
Did you start all the way at the beginning at Columbia Pike?
I started just upstream from the Parklawn pool (near Glasgow Middle School). I had originally planned to start from Columbia Pike when I did a preliminary ride (i.e., started too late in the day and the videos turned out too dark), but the Columbia Pike entrance was closed off at the time so when I came back I started a little farther downstream. Plus, there were signs up saying there had been a sewage leak, so I decided the water crossings weren’t the best to be riding in.
Went 4-wheelin’ with Nelle all day yesterday. That was a seriously fun ride!
Tandem Taxi is in action again today. Heading out to give Cyndi a ride to FCC and work, then picking up Lolly at her yoga class and taking her to work. The WABA Taxi’s work is never done.
