ParticipantWent Coffeeneuring on the Alexington Loop today (Cameron Run, Holmes Run back to WOD).
Someone drove off the GW Parkway and smashed into the boardwalk under the TR. There was bits of safety glass everywhere and tire marks on the hill.

Stopped at Misha’s Coffee in Alexandria. Look at what some A$$clown tied to my bike!

This cant be good:

Holmes Run. Apparently a relatively new trail with several stream crossings, most where the cement step path was under water. Every time I go on Holmes Run I lose the trail for a little while.

ParticipantTook the long way to work today:

Had to avail myself of unauthorized access to some federal lands, including a cyclocross portage where a gate blocked the entrance to Anacostia Park. Other than that, a perfect day for it, even if it made me late for work.

ParticipantWonderful fall ride on the CCT. No signs that it was closed. Course havent figured out why the CCT would be shut down with a fedrool shutdown.

30+ miles of pulling the WABA trailer is enough of a workout that I think I’ll try doing it again tomorrow.Tomorrow we’re heading East though! Don’t want Maryland to feel left out.

Just wondering: has this been fixed? Is the MVT (now officially open again) accessible on this stretch?
I’ve been avoiding that section because I don’t know if it’s been fixed, and with the shutdown, I figured no work would be done.

This section has been open all week. There’s no glass and the only real damage is to one of the chain pillars.October 17, 2013 at 3:03 pm #983835TwoWheelsDC

This section was open as of Monday…the support pillar was still out of whack and there was a small portion taped off, but the trail was open.

I saw drivers detouring onto the sidewalks this month in order to get around the barricades on East Basin Drive and onto Ohio Drive. Clearly they knew the road was closed. Or maybe another secret resolution was passed and car drivers are allowed to use sidewalks during gov’t shutdowns.
