Hotels offering loaner bikes to guests is a fantastic idea but I’ve found reality to fall short of the dream simply because the staff/management are clueless when it comes to maintenance. They think you only need to keep the tires pumped up. All the bikes I’ve used at hotels were virtually unrideable (though I must give credit to Elements Hotel in NJ management because they immediately called a local bike shop when I pointed out everything wrong with their loaner mtn bikes).
The bike rental shop that recently closed in Crystal City probably missed a good opportunity to provide bikes/maintenance to all of the area hotels.
