A little bit of beach riding down in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Just relax and enjoy.

Now I can work on that 50 States Ride video!

Actually, she was a biologist, she told me to grab anything that moves. Can’t tell you how many times I have been bit!

I was kind of thinking “Giro New Road” collection…. but I think the Rapha is more Elite. :D

Yeah, I am sure it is horrible for the bike, but it does look fantastically fun. That’s what rentals are for! :)

Well, I did thoroughly clean the bike (chain being most important) a few days later, so I guess it’s not too hard on the bike, right? ;)

I’d definitely recommend using a rental for this to save the trouble of clean-up. I used my hybrid commuter bike for the ride since I was able to acquire my parents’ van to use for bike transport (they drove there in a car for the whole week, whereas I was there for only a couple of days).

Quick tip: Ride into the waves. A lot. 😎

Well … hmmm. :-) I would be less worried about the $20 chain than the harder-to-service hub bearings, pedal bearings, headset bearings, and bottom bracket. Salt water destroys things quickly (well, anything that is steel, anyway).

That said, riding should be fun. And if the bike wasn’t expensive, just treat it as disposable :)
