Double commute day for me. Got called home for a Family Emergency: A Chipmunk got into The Kid’s bedroom and I had to come home early to the rescue. You will be pleased to know that all Chipmunks made it home safely at the homestead.
Reverse commuted to get back in town to the game. Which I have to say is a weird experience. Like swimming upstream. Had a one-eighth sighting of Vincent.
I found the elusive Sellman Rd connection that often shows up on suggested bike routes between DC and Baltimore on sites like Maymyride, GoogleMaps, etc. This route avoids the troublesome couple of blocks on Jessup Rd. I remember cursing Greenbelt for posting a ride with this routing the last time I tried to find it. It’s not Sellman Rd after all, it’s Sarah’s Interstate, a dirt road that looks like a private drive from either end and appears to be petering out in the middle with some branching, but if you keep going, it connects. it seems to be shared access to several properties, featuring funky and quaint structures and there is a pond with a nice fountain in the middle of it. I should have taken more pictures on this short stretch of my long ride.
It’s easier to find the entrance from Race Rd now that a paved entrance has been created just beyond a new circle in the road, next to the blue water tower.
I waited for the bus but it never came.
Unfortunately this is slated to become a sub-division.
Little Paint Branch. The trail crosses just to the left of this view but I’m afraid to try that crossing. Honestly, I think I would have a better chance riding across the creek on these rocks, dismounting and scrambling up the bank. It looks very doable but I’m afraid to try that too. I carry my bike over this creek…
