ParticipantFreshbikes Mosaic Shop Ride…. Post-ride beering.
There’s something new on this ride…. I’ve added on a pre-ride for those who can get out of the office early on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Three of us explored a new loop to the south. With a few tweaks, it could be one of the new shop ride loops in and of its own.

It doesn’t count because he wasn’t moving. There is a cooling aspect to speed! Mine was 113F at 13 mph!

ParticipantSkreaminquadz and I went out to scout a variation on the Freshbikes Mosaic Shop Pre-Ride
This is something kind of new. Basically for those who leave work early and have time to ride earlier in the afternoon, we’ll be leading a pre-ride for the shop rides. It includes a rather fun, 16 mile loop south of the shop. Wheels rolling at 4:30pm. We get back to the shop about 6pm… in time to refuel and go out again for the shop ride. The loop is awesome!

ParticipantThat would be a good one for me. I usually leave from Tysons about 4:00, so that would give me just enough time to get there. I don’t do most of the shop rides because they’re too “late” for me about 6:30 or later.

ParticipantBest way to beat the heat is to go at night/early morning! I headed from Ballston down to Fort Washington (passed by Fort Foote on the way) and back, leaving before sunrise so I wouldn’t burn in the heat. Roads were relatively clear of traffic (Commonwealth Ave and Eisenhower Ave were majestic), the temperature stayed in the 80’s, and I even encountered some wildlife.

Pano from the Wilson Bridge; MD side looked awake while VA side looked asleep
not what I wanted to see at the top of the Oxon Hill climb || I thought they were lawn ornaments until I saw one of them move!

My favorite sign to see in MD (every car that passed me gave me plenty of space) || chugging up the Air Force hill (I did better than I was expecting, but that hill is deceptive)July 20, 2013 at 4:05 pm #975952Greenbelt
