ParticipantThat’s going to leave a mark!
Observed this morning on the GWMP just north of the Humpback Bridge.
Didn’t look like the car and tow truck along the road were involved. Speed did seem to be a factor from the damage to the guard rails.

ParticipantThose pics make me wish we had similar guardrail protection along the MVT. *sigh*

Is this right after S Washington Blvd connection has a left hand merge into the GW Pwky?

Might be something to work for where the trail is wedged between the DCA fence and the GWMP. There is no safety factor on that stretch.

Yes. There is about 350 feet of concrete median at that merge. Upon reflection, I doubt the motorist was speeding because those motoring on the GWMP are consistently sensitive about their driving and how it might affect others. Those motorists are so considerate that there is little need for active enforcement.

ParticipantA rare photo from yesterday where I was actually at the front of the group! I spent almost the entire ride “leading” from the back. Fortunately Culimerc knew the way and dcv was patient.
Great day to be on a bike, by the way. The rain was perfect!

Great day to be on a bike, by the way. The rain was perfect! We only rode 40 miles (on skinny road tires) out of your 117 mile self supported ride on your fixed cx rig with super fat tires and about 20lbs of gear. That was hardly fair.
Thanks for getting us out there, it was enjoyable even with the rain.
