JDRF real estate games charity crit – I placed second in my age group
Red touch yellow, kills a fellow
Where do you find info on when/where stuff like this is going on? I would totally watch/participate in stuff like this, but I have no idea where to get details. Every time I ride my Cannondale, I think, “fast, inexpensive bike that I don’t mind if I crash? hmmm, this would be fun to try a road race with!”

Lucky for me this was a work event, my firm particpates & competes in the JDRF real estate games every year. The bike race and golf challenge are separate events but all the rest are on June 13 at AU.
I’m not sure if you saw the signs, but the swamp and tree stumps on the northern end of the Paint Branch trail (4:05 in the video) are remnants of the 2001 tornado that ripped through campus.
We should organize a fixed gear crit at RFK like we talked about. The event organizers said that security shut them down when they were scouting the race course, maybe we can do as many laps as we can before they shut us down. Anyone else interested?
First 100km ride with this bike. It was a good trip, but a bad day for a quiet ride in the country. (Some kinda bike race, and Herndon dropped a carnival on the W&OD.)
Not sure I could ride solo there all the time. There is sooooo much nothing. I either need a great group of people to ride with or some turns and swoopies to ride on. There were some sections where I got REALLY lonely.
Skratch Labs moments: I’m toward the end of a 30 mile stretch of the roughest roads that were directly into an 18mph headwind. Needless to say I was hurting… both mentally and physically. I reached into my feedbag and pulled out a home made apple pie and almost cried at how good it tasted and made me feel. At mile 170 I came across a guy who had been waiting for his support crew for over 2 hours. His bike was broken beyond repair. He hadn’t been hurt. He almost exploded when I tossed him a pie.
Even though I didn’t have a finalized recipe, I still really enjoyed the pie I got a few weeks back. I’d venture most people are surprised by your generosity and goodwill, Pete. Fantastic writeup, by the way.
