A very quiet Hump Day morning ride with laps around Central Park then down to Midtown Manhattan and back out Park Ave.

This ” Your Speed Is” sign was put up between my first and second laps today. It is on a busy stretch on the west side of the Park on a good down hill run where you really have to ride the brakes to stay under 20 mph. A CityBike (NYC’s CABI) still hit 19 mph.

On May the Fourth Be with You, I managed to escape from NYC and do a big loop up to Peekskill and back. Very light traffic on my way out during late “rush” hour through The Bronx and the secondary highways I rode. On the way back I rode the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail for the first time. The trail ranged from true dirt singletrack to crushed stone with a few barely passable boggy patches. It was definitely not road bike friendly (I was on my Kona Rove gravel bike with 700×35 touring tires).

[ATTACH=CONFIG]21496[/ATTACH] Lyndhurst Mansion, Tarrytown. The owner at the time sold a strip of land for the aqueduct to pass through so you can still ride across.

Didn’t take my camera out on my short post-work ride tonight (which was one of my standard/fast loops). But I did spend a large part of the work day outside on the back patio with the company of this little anole. He spends most of his days on our kumquat tree and is great company, especially during the endless video calls that have become even more a part of daily existence.

It wasn’t as cold as in Virginia, but it was chilly enough to break out socks, jacket, and full-finger gloves. Absurd for May!
