ParticipantI think I saw few of you guys. I was solo, orange Soma, black softshell and black shorts. I tonked on the new trail they’re building by the soccer field in Lake Fairfax Park. At the top of a little rise where the dirt was all lose I lost momentum and plonked sideways onto the rocks. Since no one was there to see it, it wasn’t harmful. Good times.

ParticipantAre movies ok? I spent 3 days mountain biking up in Frederick last weekend. I couldn’t get enough of the rocks

ParticipantThere was just fog this morning on my ride in. Pretty cool over the Potomac.

Shorts and sandals this late in the season was an added bonus.

Mountain biked about 3.5 hours Friday between Great Falls and the ice rink. Conditions nice and dry and I managed to only fall once. Too stupid to take a pic of the bike with it, but here’s a pic of a tree covered in chicken mushrooms (too old to harvest).
From Wikipedia: “Older brackets become pale and brittle almost chalk like, mildly pungent, and are often dotted with beetle or slug/woodlouse holes.” Five George Washington’s with your name on it if you go back and eat one.
I’d never heard of these mushrooms before. Do they really taste like chicken?

ParticipantYou’ll see them here and there when you go mountain biking. They’re also good for hopping practice

You know… If you had been on your full squish, I bet you would have made it up that rock the first time.
One of these days, I am going to have to make it out to the Shed with you and Jo!

Folks say everything tastes like chicken. I haven’t had actual chicken in maybe 15 years, but as far as my memory goes, I’d say it’s more of an analog. Their flavor isn’t especially strong so they need to be cut up into smaller pieces, seasoned well, and stir fried. We greatly prefer the hen of the woods/maitake, of which we found so much this year that we dried or froze about 40 pounds of them. Yes, more than once I wrapped them up in a shirt from work and carried them home in my backpack on the ride home.

Yeah, I actually think so also (or at least it wouldn’t have taken me 7 times
). I haven’t been riding my fat bike much since I got the Stumpjumper, but I think the biggest factor is the dropper post. Getting the saddle out of the way for silly maneuvers makes a huge difference. In the video, I left my saddle at riding height.

ParticipantYesterday we drove to the Idstein Weihnactsmarkt. Once in the Tanus there was lot of mist and fog. Today I headed back in that direction to see what the Kelkheim Weihnactsmarkt was like (we saw signs yesterday).

ParticipantFrom Kelkeim I headed to Bad Soden and then through the Arboretum Main-Tanus on my way home.
I thought of accordioneaur and his shameless self-promotion and dropped a euro in the busker’s basket.

ParticipantIn an attempt to finish up the video projects that have been on my back burner, I just completed one of my ride across Tampa Bay back in February. 10 months isn’t too long to finish a video, is it?
Having been denied a ride across the Courtney Campbell Causeway in 2015 due to construction, this year I was able to cross from Pinellas County on the west to downtown Tampa. I rode through historic Ybor City and parts of South Tampa before riding on the shoulder of the 55 mph speed limit Gandy Bridge to return to Pinellas County (it’s a bit intimidating, but there’s enough of a buffer from traffic). I met up with my sister at a Tijuana Flats (we NEED that chain to open up in this area!) for lunch before riding a bit more and returning my rental bike to Chainwheel Drive.
Here’s the video:

ParticipantYeah that’s my dream bike. I’ll never ever be able to afford it. Is there a shop around here that does Jones bikes? It’d be fun to ride one. I didn’t think there was. I noticed the fork was on your ski-cycle too. Super jelly.
