You should check out Erbach/Eltville. Or Wispertal.
And absolutely go eat and drink here: http://www.weinhaus-klepper.de/
And you have no idea how jealous I am.I rode through both Eltville and Erbach (on the Mainradweg/R3) on my way to the Rhine my first Sunday in Frankfurt. Too early for anything to be open (what little would be open on a Sunday) and it looks like the Klepper was a couple miles further north.

ParticipantI was looking for a new challenge, so on Saturday, I decided to bike to both IKEA’s in the area. The total mileage was 101.3 for the trip. Here are pics of the ride:
IKEA #1 (Woodbridge) – bridge overlooking Occoquan
the old Lorton Reformatory (prison) – new bike lanes on Workhouse Rd (between Lorton Rd and Ox Rd)
IKEA #2 (College Park) – Swedish meatballs for the energy to get home (with some apple cake (not pie) that came with vanilla sauce)
Eastern kingsnake on the Paint Branch Trail – getting closer to home, looking across the Potomac from the Humpback bridge
The 2 times I have biked to the IKEA in College Park, I took different routes. This time, I used the Paint Branch Trail -> College Park Trolley Trail -> Rhode Island Ave bike lane -> US National Agricultural Library -> Baltimore Ave bike lane which was mostly stress-free and more comfortable than my first attempt (Paint Branch Trail -> Cherry Hill Rd -> Baltimore Ave). I’ve already got a new challenge lined up for perhaps the first weekend of November (date TBD so it best fits within people’s schedules) which will involve biking around the entire Beltway, so let me know if you’re interested.
Oh, one last thing: this is the last ride for my Dia de Los Muertos bike jersey which as you can tell has seen better days. I’m excited to try out the new ones I got this weekend

ParticipantTrying out Tapatalk for the first time, so apologies for any formatting errors.
I’m in Chicago for a week, and this afternoon I saw a 2-lane protected bike lane! They were on a few hump-shaped bridges I’m guessing so that there’s room to pass on the up slope.
So far, I’ve seen a lot of good bike infrastructure. I’ll post more of what I find in coming days.

Santuario de la Virgen del Morro
Halfway down the Morro – slums and the city in the distance.
So, so true!
Italian cultural institute in Lima. Hah! We are everywhere!September 25, 2016 at 3:42 pm #1056561Powerful Pete
ParticipantHere goes…
Miraflores (downtown) protected bike path. Super slippery when wet.
San Isidro (posh neighborhood) bike path. Slippery.
Miraflores oceanside bridge with protected bike path (Pacific Ocean is to the right).

ParticipantIndeed. I suspect it is the only one in Lima (and possibly PerĂº). This is a country where you either ride an MYB or a full on road bike. Except for a few weirdos!

ParticipantFound some cows by the W&OD yesterday during my ride. I think this was Leesburg-area. They were pretty cute–a baby cow tried to make friends with my bike a few minutes after I took the picture.

ParticipantI’m off wandering around the midwest using borrowed bikes. First up riding in the Milwaukee area.
The Oak Leaf Trail is actually a trail system in Milwaukee County. I took it from the lakefront downtown north to where is merges with the Ozaukee Interurban Tral.

I stopped at Rochambo on Brady St for an espresso.

ParticipantAfter Wisconsin I was Breaking Away to Bloomington, IN, stopping at a relatively new coffee shop on the B-Line Trail.

A trail to nowhere. It looks like the developer put this 1 km trail in along the east fork of Jackson Creek. It has three access points but doesn’t connect to anything.

ParticipantNow up in Cook County, Illinois and riding in the forest preserves.
Started on the Des Plaines River Trail and came up to a rail crossing and had a WTF moment.

FYI, the trail continues on the other side.

Headed back down the Skokie Lagoons and found a bike share station. Note: the closest curb cut to get on the trail was at least 200 feet to the north and there was none headed south.
