Yeah, the dislike button is a bit vague. Does it mean “the guy who posted this is a jerk”? Or “Oh noes. Bad stuff happened. I don’t like bad stuff”?

Why not just rename it to “Oh, no”? Then we’ll get the option to Un-Oh-No posts that we’ve oh-no’ed

Okay, okay…last one. Went to see the orthopedist today. He didn’t like the angle of the x-ray the hospital took. It showed a thin, almost hairline, fracture in my clavicle. So he took another x-ray. New image shows butterfly fracture and significant displacement (3cm).

Surgery next week. No bike for 3 months. F Me. :(

Major ouch – I feel your pain. :( Want to hit the “Oh No” button.

Definitely warrants an “Oh-No”. So sorry. Hope it all heals up quickly.

Sucks! Been there!! Behave! You will live with how your bone heals for the rest of your life – take time to heal it well.

I smashed mine flipping over handlebars on a beach in San Fran. Landed on that wet sand right at the edge where the waves barely reach. You know, the sand that is as firm as concrete.

    Hang on.
3 months sounds a bit extreme.
My collarbone surgery involved putting things back together with a roughly 5″ bolt down the middle and sutures wrapped around the broken area to hold some of the stray bits close. I was commuting and carrying a backpack within a month or so, no worries.
    Good luck.

You’re not a real cyclist til you’ve busted a collarbone.

Subby’s return to normal will depend on whether they put in permanent screws/pins or temporary ones. The former allows you to return to normal activities a lot faster but you’re stuck with potentially setting off the scanners at the airport for the rest of your life; the latter takes longer but may require minor surgery to remove them and you’re stuck in a sling/cast longer. Neither is any fun.

Hope you aren’t in too much pain Subby. :(

Honeybadger6 just finished the Cap2Cap century in Richmond (her first!). Although the forecast called for thunderstorms, we saw nary a drop of rain, and it ended up being warm and pretty sunny all day. It was a little breezy, which made the last third or so a bit of a bear, but Meg managed about a 15.5mph moving average.

Well what do you know? Sometimes the answer to the age old question is “Yes, it is a banana in my pocket”.

I think we can also see Tim’s speed secret too. He has a string pull windup motor built in. Pull the tab and zing there goes another KOM.
