ParticipantOn our way to school. Someone took a picture of me and the kids on the way to school this morning. Amazingly the Popville commentors are mostly positive. Good thing we were wearing helmets.

ParticipantMy wife and I spent time last Saturday and Tuesday trying to find the Hedgehog in the Fog monument here in Kyiv. Trip Advisor had it pinned in the wrong place, plus one of their commentators said it was moved to Shevchenko Park. Maybe it was for a while, but it’s now just behind St. Sophia, it’s original location.

ParticipantThe hedgehog is so cute! We need more fun statues/sculpture here in DC. Our’s are all so serious!

ParticipantThis is the last one I know of. It’s along the Patrick Henry Drive retaining wall at Four Mile Run. Anyone know of another?

How did that pile even get there? Three blocks from my house, and it’s never been where Arlington dumps snow like on Bluemont Park parking lot.

This one is in Fairfax City in Thaiss Park off of Pickett Road. I took this picture last Tuesday. The Fairfax Cross County trail runs right by it and the City did an amazing job not blocking the trail.

ParticipantNot my ride, but one of the Ukrainians I follow on Strava did a 197 mile ride southeast of Kyiv along both sides of the Dnipro River and posted 20 pictures from the ride on Stava. I’ll need to bookmark this for a possible June ride, summer solstice or maybe June 4 in honor of the Total 200 anyone?

ParticipantStarted to ride here – the fast guys are really, really fast. Traffic is horrendous and dangerous, so all rides begin at 5AM-ish…
A few pictures from the local version of Hains Point and from the ride to the Morro Solar, a hill overlooking the ocean shore with a short nasty climb.
Let me know when we organize the BikeArlington Southern Hemisphere Ride!
The view leaving my residence…
View from the Morro Solar hill, south of the oceanside of Lima. Slums at the bottom stretching towards the most expensive real estate in the city (in the mist).
Opposite side of the hill…
I may need to get a mountain bike…March 13, 2016 at 3:54 pm #1049347vvill

Sshh… you are speaking logically. N+1!
Actually, a second set of wheels with a more aggressively treaded tire would make sense.
But apparently the MTB-ing in the area is very good, so it would be a pity not to equip myself with a well above my riding abilities MTB, wouldn’t it?

ParticipantOn Saturday, I went on the Annapolis Century ride with Rod, Billy, and David which took us from Hains Point through the non-closed-off parts of DC (Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon was being held at the time) across Maryland to Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay and back. I have lived my entire life in VA yet have only seen the Chesapeake Bay a handful of times (never have been to Annapolis before), so I was quite happy to see it again (I also enjoyed the salty breeze as I was dealing with allergies all day, so it was a temporary relief). All in all, my portion of the ride was 120.1 miles which surpassed my previous record of 108 miles last Halloween (my legs were jelly for the rest of the day).
Thank you, again, to Rod for planning and leading this trip!
