You’re going to be easier to spot on the MVT now.

Were you riding across the Moskovs’kyi Bridge this morning? Could have sworn I saw that bike.

ParticipantA few pictures from this morning’s ride to show examples of Kyiv cycling infrastructure.
The Naberezhne highway (name has variations along the route) runs along the west bank (right bank) of the Dnipro River. For most of the way there is a wide side-path that can be used by bikes. I like to compare it to the GW Parkway and the MVT. Too bad there are many obstacles in the way. On weekends if I am riding this way in the morning I’ll be on the road, not the side-path.
Today I crossed the river on the Moskovs’kiy bridge. Again, there is a side-path, but the right lane going over the bridge is a bus lane.
After the bridge, they have been upgrading the side-path, widening, mostly repaving, and marking it for bikes.

ParticipantI have been working on refining a loop that goes north from the highway above. A new Metro line is planned for that area, but the city (?) is in the process of upgrading the side-path on the stretch of road the parallels the current electric rail line there. Too bad several sections get used to park cars and that there are two sections are blocked by kiosk markets.
After the loop I backtracked to ride on Turkhanov Island. There was a sign with a bike on it and a drop arm barrier across the road. The speed limit was only 20 km/h. After a couple of miles I recrossed the Dnipro on a bridge restricted to pedestrians and bikes.

Sadly I was not. The wormhole that allows me to transcend space and time wasn’t open this morning.

That’s an angry-looking road sign there.

Participant“Critical Mass Kyiv” I understand they had a ride last Saturday, but I don’t know where. It was funny to see that on the road since there is little car traffic there.
