Jamis Renegade
Hey…do you think those wheels are tubeless?
Kidding aside, I like the looks of the Jamis.

ParticipantHave you considered a Specialized Diverge? It’s a cross between a road (Roubaix) and a cross (Crux) bike. Geometry is nice and relaxed but takes up to 35 wide tires (32 with fenders). Aside from the long delay in getting mine (longshoremen’s strike/slowdown and my need for a size 49), it’s been great. And it handles roads and light off-road travel like a champ.

Good point that I had not considered. I just find it very messy (and here we are talking about a frame with mechanical discs)… but this is most probably the roadie in me coming out. Can you tell that I am not an MTB-guy?
Then again, how difficult is it to thread a cable through cable guides?
Well, it may come with mechanical discs but its pretty obvious that even road gear is moving towards hydraulic systems, so it could be seen as a bit of future proofing.
The issue with hydraulic lines is its a closed system; removing either the caliper or lever or cutting the line would require a bleed afterward. So any frame that requires threading the line through anything will make hydraulic systems a PITA. Its best if the brake lines are open and easily attached and removed without having to cut anything or detach the caliper or lever.

Participant@kwarkentien – Had not considered it… I thought it could not mount panniers, but I see that it can. What model is yours, if I may ask?
Is that Di2?

ParticipantIt is Di2. It is actually the “Expert” model that we added Di2 to the build. I actually ordered the Di2 one but it never came in. No difference in frame and building it up was $2k cheaper so it was a win-win. Hydraulic disc brakes with internal routing. If you come to HDCC at Best Buns this week, I can give you a peek.

This particular job seems a little … inelegant – my bikes have smaller zip ties, which reduce the ugly a bit. And the Enve fork on the Colossal has a much smoother cable-guidey system than this fork seems to have.
That said, if you’re ever going to use this in snow/mud, the fully covered cables is worth the mild ick of the zip ties – some snow/road crud made it into the 1cm of exposed cable on the Fargo, and then into the housing, and the front brake started sticking. It was an interesting ride, that.

I’m sure that I stripped the thread pre-ride while (re)installing and tightening the cleat. I had been using those shoes for both casual wear and cycling so I would constantly switch between the rubber sole “plate” and the cleats. Looks like it’s time for me to chose one form of use of the other…

It’s not technically out yet, but the Cannondale Slate has me intrigued.

ParticipantI’m noting that this thread has gotten off topic and should be moved somewhere else. I like coming here to see vvill’s and greenbelt’s and Boomer’s and Potomaccyclist’s and Bobco’s and others’ photos from their rides.
Great discussion no doubt, but how about starting a new thread or moving over to the Bikes & Equipment section?June 22, 2015 at 8:55 pm #1032689CaseyKane50
ParticipantJust like that, cut down all the trees, add a little rain and the wetlands will form.

This is a view of the wetlands project on the Alexandria side of Four Mile Run.

ParticipantSo you’re not coming here to see MY pictures of my rides???
Fine.
I wear speedplay frogs. That must be relevant to hijacking the thread somehow.
