What is the world coming to if someone has to go without a $37,000 coat? Won’t someone think of the billionaires? Won’t they freeze to death?

Or fund healthcare or bike lanes to transit stations (which a Congressman tried to cut recently).

Y’all are doing a great job spending other peoples’ money several times over, based on a display window coat that nobody has actually purchased.

Try visiting their website. Their prices are obscene! A mink and silk vest for over $13K. A pair of loafers is almost $9K. A simple silk sleeveless blouse is $995!!!

Someone has got to be buying this stuff.

    A bike for $10,000. $500 for a pair of handlebars. $250 pedals.

But that’s totally different because it’s a cyclist’s disposable income instead of a clothes hound’s

We’re not the only ones. I count private (multi-billion dollar) fraud as a way of getting other people’s money too. Plenty of that going on.

The coat in the window isn’t the $37,000 one. I couldn’t find that coat but I’ve read about it on Washington Business Journal, so I’ll assume that they had a source for that.

It’s not different. I never said it was. I’ve never spent $500 on handlebars or $10,000 or $20,000 on a bike.

I’m not condemning the purchases, but I am poking a stick at it a little bit. If billionaires can’t take a little joke like that, then we’re really in trouble.

Yeah, Shawn! You billionaires and your thin skins! And your money bags, you!

Why are you liberals so peeved at earning money through willing voluntary exchange? The only way that multibillions can be fraudulantly earned by ‘private’ parties is by using the coersive force of government to direct money their way. (Have you ever wondered why the richest area of the country lives in the Washington area?)

You wouldn’t know it from the abysmal level of economic discussion in this country, but the U.S. has one of the most progressive tax system on the planet and the 1 percent already pays a vastly disproportionate share of taxes. Not that I am shedding any tears over it.

There are those that believe the system is perhaps not quite so voluntary as many others like to claim. But certainly if someone wants to voluntarily part with their expendable income to purchase luxury goods, I don’t begrudge them such expenditures. I mean, I do it, just on a smaller scale…

    Got it.

Side note: bike people are quite as capable of making fun of ridiculous bikes (like this 24ct gold plated bike) as ridiculous jackets.
