Rode with my kid from Vienna to Luther Jackson Middle School (for those of you not familiar, go ahead, google map it).

That is so cool, where did he lock the bike?

Ugh, yeah, well we complied more with the letter than the spirit of the occasion. The principal requested a bike rack from the county (at my request) but it wasn’t ready in time. He could have locked it to a railing, plenty of those around, but (a) we learned last week that he has an orchestra concert this evening so he can’t ride home due to time constraints and (b) we realized this morning that his backpack weighs 24 pounds and he can’t ride with that. So my husband drove by the school on his way somewhere else and dropped off the backpack and picked up the bike. Oh well. It’s a start, maybe someday we will figure out how to surmount all these obstacles.

My kids’ school recently got two brand new wheel bender racks. Why do they even make those things anymore?

Pics from this Sunday morning. Great ride out to Mt Vernon. On the way back hit a rogue patch of rough concrete on 4MR and went down head first and hard. If I wasn’t wearing a helmet I would likely be having soup fed to me right now. Thank you, helmet! As it is, broken right clavicle and two broken ribs. Too scared to look at my bike. Friend clipped me as I went down and also crashed but fortunately he and his bike are fine.

Very bummed to miss B2WD and all the other challenges. That said – it was my first time doing Mt Vernon…what a great ride! Ambulance ride, not so much.

Holy crap, Subby. Glad it wasn’t worse. Hope you can laugh about the photo from the ambulance soon.

Even though it was raining yesterday, I still needed to go out and spin my legs.

Then rode around a bit and got to see a CaBi station close up. Solar Powered!

Subby, so sorry to hear about your ELITE Tour de France worthy crash. Wow. That sounds very painful. I hope you have uncomplicated fractures and the docs have patched you up okay. That sucks, no way about it. I hope you can make it to happy hour next week so we can slather on the sympathy.

    Broken bones suck!!!
