ParticipantI made a video of my ride from Monday night. Since my camera (ContourROAM2, I got a new one) does not do low light very well, I had to increase the brightness and adjust the contrast in order to make much of the footage viewable (much better than almost black with a few dots here and there).
I chose a relaxing song because I found the ride to be relaxing. Enjoy!

ParticipantThe DC/Arlington region does have a lot of spectacular sights, with all the monuments, memorials, museums, White House/Capitol and more. I think a lot of people tend to forget about them because they are trapped inside office buildings and cars all day. I never really saw a lot of those sights until I started riding again.

ParticipantJust as I was approaching the 14th St. Bridge (George Mason), the clouds started rolling in, with snow flurries. Half of the District appeared to be under the clouds and half was in the less cloudy area. (It wasn’t quite sunny.) Is this a glass half-full or half-empty? Or a District half-cloudy or half-clear?

The half-frozen Tidal Basin with all the seagulls standing out in the middle of the water, on top of the ice. They stand on one leg. They were doing the same thing in the Gravelly Point parking lot. I just read that they either do this to rest one leg at a time, or they are keeping one leg warm at a time, by hiding it within their feathers. Of course, they could get off of the cold ice and out of the wind. There are plenty of trees nearby. Maybe they have an instinctive fear of predators who may be near trees. Otherwise, their cold-avoidance strategies don’t seem to make a lot of sense.

How dare you sir. How can you confuse a great sci-fi action hero with that… that hippy poet.
