Kind of enjoying having a top gear of 32 x 13. Worked better with knobbies on last Sunday’s gravel grinder. Today’s fast training ride with Greenbelt, not as well, but I can go 22-23mph before spinning out. Should have new chainrings any day now and the 26/36/46 crankset back on the “Smith Army Bike” soon (named after the Swiss Army Knife, because this bike does it all
). I still haven’t figured out how to get rear derailluer to line up with 11 tooth cog. I think I need to add spacers on the drive side but there aren’t spacers on the left side to remove so then the hub will be too wide to fit in frame so I’m thinking I’ll just roll with 13t small cog. I think 46 x 13 should allow something like 30mph which is fast enough.

Last chance to see the Fossil Hall at the Natural History Museum. It remains open for one more week, before closing for a 5-YEAR RENOVATION! Final day is next Sunday, April 27.

Little-known fact: Pennsylvania Ave. was closed in front of the White House because of the all-powerful street hockey lobby, not because of security concerns.
I have always wondered who those jerks are. They get so indigant towards anyone walking or riding into their play field which encompasses the entire width of the boulevard. How they get away with that leads me to believe they are connected.

Took the new ride on a short 12 mile jaunt along the Sligo Creek Trail (Takoma Park to Wheaton). Encountered an option between a rattling bridge or stepping stones to cross a stream. Bike is light enough and easily shouldered. Conclusion: I don’t need no stinkin’ bridges!

Just in time for my son (just shy of two years old) to get even more interested in dinosaurs than he already is.

Well, some of the exhibits haven’t been touched since the 1930s. When it’s finished, it should be very nice. And–t-rex!

Yep, super small 44cm size. We just switched from risers to bullhorns, although I think she may want to change back and add a basket up front.
