ParticipantHow much do I have to pay this guy to have my kids live there (as opposed to their current residence)?
Or….
If my kids lived there, I assure you, I would be driving a much nicer bike!

ParticipantSomeone on Westmoreland has a similar sign…it’s just north of Longfellow MS. People drive like idiots through there.

ParticipantI did a new video on the National Cherry Blossom Festival this year. I had gone through there last Thursday, and though a bit windy, it was really pleasant. The moment I got into East Potomac Park I could smell the strong fragrance of the cherry blossoms, which was very nice.

ParticipantI was in Chicago for a couple days (I planned a surprise party for my wife’s 40th birthday, it was awesome) and got a chance to check out Chicago CaBi. It was a little frustrating, as I didn’t actually get a bike out of the station you see pictured. The credit card reader wasn’t working, so I had to walk to the next one.
The ride itself was nice – I swear 3rd gear is just a hair taller on the Chicago version. Or maybe it’s just that there is nothing even resembling a hill anywhere in the entire city. That could be it, too.
Anyway, entirely pleasant. Of course, afterwards I was told by a local that the road I took for about half my trip is not somewhere anyone should ever ride a bike. I did it at 930AM Sunday, though, so I didn’t have any trouble. Chicago does have some nice bike infrastructure, and I saw a lot of cyclists despite the cold and wind.

Translation: “I drive really fast on that road and get very angry when anything slows me down.”

It was actually a friend who commutes by bike regularly, so I was a little surprised.

Next time ride up from the lakefront to Ridge Ave in Evanston. Too bad it’s about seven miles from the neares Divvy station. Can you take the Divvy on the “L” to speed up the trip north?

This had to be a northsider that told you that, probably a Cubs fan. Even the parts of the city north of 35th street (US Cellular Field) and east of Humboldt Park that used to be “rough” are pretty much honkytown now. Were you down in the loop or on the northside? The ride down Lake Shore Drive is really great, even better during the three weeks of spring or early September.
I still say if CaBi/Divvy/Citi/NiceRide could get a fourth gear on those bikes they’d be perfect.

ParticipantI was on Ashland in Wicker Park. It’s a 2-3 lane road that looks like it could get highway-ish at rush hour, but it’s pretty wide and seemed like a reasonable place to ride a bike.
